Re: Blickling lake
Hers the first one Simon, I opened the JPEG file as a Camera raw and made a master colour file, I also fixed the hot spots using the clone tool, no sharpening yet, thats the key to this image.
Next I started to convert, using , guess what , Contrast Grading, using Image factory and Silver exif Pro, once I got the tones right, to my taste , I then started to sharpen, its important with textures to use selective sharpen to bring them out and that includes ICE,I did and overall capture sharpen, then using masks selective sharpen at varying strengths, using the brush opacity slider, once that was all done I decide to darken the top of the sky and also the bottom of the pic to emphasize the Reeds sticking up.
I did have a go at the other but its to underexposed, when I try to open it, to much banding and noise present, might be savable if the raw file was used to edit
If you want I can mail you the large edited pic, PM your email address if so
Martin

Re: Blickling lake
You know Martin - that is exactly what I would have done
Great conversion of what was, I thought, a nice composition. Thanks for the description as well.
Regards
Hugh
