Bill.... Thanks for the downloads, what is interesting is how you've arranged your layers in groups allowing the option to back go back and edit them. I end up with individual layers that I have to keep flattening, how do you do this.

Not sure I understand the question Mark, can you rephrase?

In your layers tab you might have a layer with a folder icon (doing this off the top of my head) and below it the masks and edits grouped together.

If it makes no sense I'll try and do a screen print later.

OK.

In the Photoshop (CS2) menu

Layer / Merge Visible.
Generates a composite to date. Sometimes I will flatten, always I will save (so work to date is not lost), and sometimes I will later delete if I want to go back and edit a mask underneath.

It's often not necessary to merge in this way but it helps me get my head around what I am happy with so far.

Oops emoticon it's me not you.

The keystroke is Cmd Option Shift E (Mac)
This does "Stamp Visible" for which I can find no menu action, not merge visible. I think after years of using this I had just come to assume it was the same. Sorry for the inconvenience Mark.

If you are on a PC you'll have to have a play round or I can find a link to ALL Photoshop keystrokes for you.

It's a good image to have a play with but if think if people learn how the Master does his editing we would all be masters and produce some first class images...it takles time to learn and it pays off in the end.

Re: Lakes Barn

now turn it into an action and remember it only 'stamps' the layer you are on and those below it
