I would say you would be better with the R800 as it will print our colour and neutral grey prints
QUOTE From luminous landscapes site "R800 can generate fine art, exhibition-quality prints on either matte or glossy papers. Of course these prints will be letter size or 8.5” wide panoramas at the most. However, if one only looks at print quality — and this is what I am looking at here — the R800 delivers fine art print quality with great ease of use at an unbeatable price point."

I think the newer r360 is more a novelty been able to print straight from the printer with out a comp and it does not use Ultra chrome inks sets.

Re: Epson R360 or R800

My insurers sent me a R360, saying it was the replacement for my previous printer that had been damaged by lightning (there wasn't a cash option). But it is very poor for monochrome work. Even though I had an icc profile made for my printer and paper, and kept with Epson Claria ink and their papers, I couldn't get a neutral tone throughout the range from white to black, and it varied more with illumination tyoe than any other inks that I've seen. The colour prints also vary a lot with light source. These inks may be good for long life, but can't make pictures that I would want to keep!
