Re: FAO Martin

Very hard to tell form this realy the neg would be best for information, the first as you said is washed out yet you say the neg seems to look ok for exposure, if you use an enlarger then pop the neg in, look carefully at it, see if the image looks OK, or better still, at colledge do a print out, this will establish if its the neg or digital scan is at fault, if it does not printout right I suspect there has been some cross contamination of the ID11 dev, on looking I think it is the neg surface thats damaged, [gelatin layer], the secong image to me looks nearly normal in grain for hp5,maybe a more careful development would reduce the grain structure, dont know how you do your final wash but heres how i used to and never got scratches,or rarely, once washed, put a neg clip on one end, use water at around 20c about I litre, add a drop of wetting agent, then hang up the neg and pour the water from the top onto the neg, once you used the water put another clip on the bottom to stop curl and just leave to air dry, finger or squegee wiping will scratch negs contray to what others say.

Tell you what the grain in the face makes one want to do film again, film texture just cant be copied digitaly
