Canon 28mm f/1.8 USM lens

Does anyone have any comments about this lens? I'm thinking of buying my first prime lens and want something that would be the equivalent of about 35mm focal length on a 35mm film camera. I have an EOS 300D. Or can anyone suggest anything else for comparison?

Thanks in advance.

Your cam will be 1.3 crop factor, I would say it would be excellent being a prime and great for low light, fast lens open a whole new world, check check for reviews on Google also the Sigma should be good and cheaper

Thanks Martin - I'll check out the Sigma too. Your advice is much appreciated.
