Flat Screen Monitor Recommendations? Decided I will have to bite the bullet and buy a flat screen monitor (+ docking station) for my laptop. I have been relying on the laptop screen these past couple of years and whilst it is fine for almost all use, the feedback from this forum tells me that I cannot be sure of achieving the right contrast, tones and levels in my photographs due to the variability of viewing angle etc.
So, gentlemen - any recommendations as to specification, make, model etc would be gratefully received!
No idea for Pcs as Im on a Mac, Apple flat screens are great though IMO
I'm a Mac too.
My wife occasionally tells me I am very non-PC, but in this context I am definitely PC
So, aside from the (cough) helpful input from the Mac-brigade, any offers of suggestions for a suitable flat screen monitor for use with a Windows-based laptop? Looking at specifications, such things as image contrast varies from 600:1 to 3000:1; image brightness from 100 to 300+ cd/m2; response time 8ms to 2ms and so on.
Re: Flat Screen Monitor Recommendations? At the basic level for a PC decide on wide screen or standard
You then have the problem of technology...
a site to consider is http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/selector.htm
My self i have a Dell 2007FP S-IPS and its not bad
Re: Flat Screen Monitor Recommendations? I've recently changed from just using my MacBook Pro screen to using a Dell 2408WFP a 24 inch wide gamut screen. It's calibrated by Spyder 2, and seems fine, although I have a problem sometimes waking up the display from sleep. Because the gamut is wide it's important to proof for each kind of paper to see what would be printed. The display I bought developed a fault after a few hours, and Dell replaced it (the next day to this remote part of Argyll) with a refurbished one that has been OK.
