B+W ND 110 filter exposure chart

After some long searches on the net i came across these exposure times for getting the correct exposure, i hope this will help for those who have or plan to purchase this type of filter.

I have made it into a sticky so that it doden't get lost. I've also uploaded the text so that it's easier to copy and paste into a software like office word for printing...to make it easy i split my page in half so that it didn't run into 2 pages??

Divide by 60 will get about the right answer.

Had my first chance to try mine out yesterday on a sunset on Brancaster beach. 2/3 though the exposure a larger than average ripple washed round the tripod legs. Scrub one exposure emoticon

Ok

if the reading without a filter is 1/125 a 6 stop filter gives you 1/2 a second 1/250 would be 1/4 and 1/60th would be one second. On the beach I was shooting one and 2 minute exposures to give good blur. You'll struggle to get that slow on only a six stopper quite often. Depends what you want to achieve with it.

Hmm.. I was thinking 10 stops might be too much for just getting flowing water in streams and waterfalls etc

Then I realised I dont have any streams or waterfalls in Norfolk! Not one - it's true folks! (emoticon)

So actually it would be beaches so you're right Bill 10 stops would be better

btw I can work out exposures ok on my head by just mentally counting up or down fstops but when it comes to actualy multiplying or dividing I need paper! Awkward in the field

Always a rush too as the light is fading emoticon
I've a dummy list written in indelible ink on the inside of the lid of the filter box
so I can see the settings I need immediately as I get the filter out.
