Pre-visualisation

You might want a bit of advanced notice for this challenge...

Imagine you have a plate camera and there is only one plate left and you want to make a photograph...
So think of something/someone within 5 minutes of where you live or work - you do not want to lug your tripod too far.
Pre-visualise an image of that object/person.
Think of how you want to expose your 'plate'- no using histograms, just decide on your metering and how you will set your exposure.
Think of how you are going to develop that 'plate' - you want to pre-define what software and the settings you will use to create an image [negative] which you can then manipulate [develop]
You can manipulate to your hearts content but you should not retake the image or redevelop it.
Then try to post it up on the day you take it.

Besides being a bit of fun the idea of this challenge is to have you make an image rather than take a picture

Are you up for it?

Re: Pre-visualisation

And heres what I did...
An old wall just in the field next to the house. Light coming through the clouds but not totally overcast or bright sunshine.
Decided I would use the matrix metering at F16 let it set the speed.
Took the single image
Decided to develop in Photomatix using the default values to create a 16 bit Tiff that was the negative.

Image

I was trying to get an ethereal quality with the various tones in the wall but have ended up going down the sharpening route.
But to succeed the image should be a little restless with you looking around it but not settling...

Ok Chris this is my idea.

Door to where?? A closed door which I opened on a derelict property clinging to the side of one of the valleys not far from where I live.

Used a different conversion method to mormal to try and give it a feeling of where am I going? What am I going to find? Dark and foreboding.

I know it ain't easy and I certainly don't use it often...Ansel Adams and others went on about it but did they use it exclusively or like the rest of us they just spotted a good image and then tried to capture it at the time...
