What sells and what doesn't sell?

So what kind of images of b&w art are potential buyers looking for: Landscapes? Florals? Cityscapes and Architecture? Still life? Anyone have an opinion on this?

Yes I do, As in the other thread you need to develop a style, landscape is a big market but it has to be different, most people with little skill can shoot a landscape what separates the expert form the shooter is visulization and being able to add that extra dimension that separates it from the rest, lots can be seen on this forum some great shots that would sell, Architecture, cityscapes also fall in to this category, people shots need to have a purpose within them something that awakens thoughts of deprivation, poverty, pictures that tell a story and are evocative, then there's the other side to photography being very abstract using shape and form we see images every day in shops like that,

I would say stick to what you are good at, perfect it, be master at what you do not jake of all trades master of none

As far as the pictures I presented to be displayed next week, half of them are of the city I live in. This is a busy tourist area during the spring & summer, and I wanted to put out something that people could say "This is from the town I visited" or "This is where I am from." Of course, like Martin said they have to be very different from a postcard shot, and have to show something extra that makes you much more than just a snapper but an artist...

This of course is just one of many markets... emoticon

Mike, before you bought your 2400 did you check out the Epson 3800?

Steve, I did check out the 3800, but I did not go with it for my own reasons, not technical reasons really. I had limited cash and wanted a printer and a lens, so I bought the R2400 and just purchased the Canon 70-200 2.8 IS. Also, with an A3 size print, or slightly smaller, then throw on a 4 inch matte and a decent frame, you have a pretty large product to sell. So, to sum it up, if I was in the market just for a printer, I might have very well gone with the 3800...
