The Most Popular Print Sizes

I was wondering what print sizes are most popular when selling b&w prints. 8x10?
A3 (11.7"x16.5") 13x19? 7x5? Just curious to know what others have to say about this.

Well i tend to try and push for 16inch longest side and the width may vary a touch due to the original crop, this is then centered and printed on A3+ size, the reason being that this gives the buyer a choice, either to custom frame to the size or get the image matted to fit any size frame, the other important factor that should also be mentioned on your site when selling is that on most fixed sizes you can not print the whole image area as it will not fit the paper size, I hate to crop out my pictures and would think the same for yourself, always give an option as first mentioned but to answer the question by Steve my most popular size is 16inch centered and printed on A3+ with white border to allow matting

Martin, when you say 14" long, is this the overall paper size??

The reason why i mention this is because there are a lot images now that are framed with a border aound them and images are down sized to fit on large paper so when it gets mounted and framed none of the image is lost or hidden....??

I tend to now print one size on A3+ paper centered,or A2 to order, the images are 16inch long, width varies to how the image is cropped, this leaves a white border, i also put a fine black line around the print half inch from the print itself, it is then titled and signed and gives the buyer a choice to either mat to the print edge, mat to leave the line and title, or simply have a custom size frame made to fit the actual image size, The reason for centering smaller than the paper size is that none of my images are cropped to fit a particular frame size, what people buy from digital-monochrome is exactly as previewed on the site, i don't like to alter the images sizes in anyway other than the way i have composed in camera or on the computer screen

A3+ is 13" by 19" right? (wrong?)

Does it leave an equal border round the edge, I imagine that there's about an inch top and bottom and an inch and a half at the sides if you print 16" on the long side - is that how it works I mean do you have to crop it further?

Sorry if IM being thick but I find sizes (and maths) really hard to get my head around

Yes A3+ is 19x13 inch, my images when centered, the longest side gives a white border of 1.5 inch, this is constant to all, the border on the shortest side of the image is equal but the white border will vary in size dependent on crop. hope that makes sense Simon
