Check your all important screen calibration

The chart below is provided to give visual information to how well your screen is calibrated, its so important to get it right as the images posted will not look right on an uncalibrated screen, also important if you print your own work.

Superb links Chris and all saved.

My LCT checked out very well with them.
I blew up my motherboard this week and was using a cheapo PC and monitor.

Even Martins' images looked uninspiring on it so this is a very important subject.

Re: Check your all important screen calibration

I just calibrated my monitor and cannot believe the difference. To my mind things now appear a trifal too light, but on the otherhand, I can see detail in shadow areas that I couldn't see before.....I guess I prefer slightly more saturated colours, but I suppose I will get used to it.

David when you first calibrate a screen things can tend to look a little odd because your used to viewing differently prior, you will get used to it in no time, keep calibrating every 2 weeks

Re: Check your all important screen calibration

can some one explain in plane english something about this calibration issue.

I have calibrated my monitor using an Eye One Display.
I, at the moment use Fotospeed paper which I have printed their test charts on sent to them and in return they have sent me the profiles for said papers and ink.

HOWEVER
my prints are at least 2 stops darker than my 'calibrated' screen, surly I shouldn't have to adjust every print by 2 stops all the time.

More to the point, am I missing something here? Do I now need a device to match my print to the screen? If so what is recommended.

Trouble is it is getting me down trying unsuccessfully to get things right, I'm almost on the verge of giving up altogether.

Chris I have read all those links you provided and it seems a total minefield but using the iimages provide in all post my monitor appears well profiled. ITS JUST ME BL___Y PRINTS!!!
