January to February 16 th 08

This is a new area that I will endeavour to keep up with from time to time, I feel we need a round up of the months

posts and general forum activity, from the beginning of January we have had 13 new members, welcome to you all and

hope you find the forum informative and helpful, the last few weeks have seen a lot of activity with some great

monos posted, its interesting to see the different styles and editing preferences here, discussion is always welcome

and taken in good humour as well as serious advice being presented. A few images posted in February are of

particular note, one by new member Kadamar titled "Outer Islands", a simple shot not to busy but converted well, a

type of image that would print out well for fine Art representation, another image by Crimbo "Time warp past

Chromate Lane" shows how timeless monochrome can be and without colour still retain a beautiful artistic feel,

another shot by max49 shows that looking for contrast really works well even at the small web sized post its striking

with basically just black and white tones, in the portrait section new member Norrie6 posted a picture that shows BW

works best for character representation, hes still fine tuning it with suggestions from others but a fine picture

it is, mannytkd posted a wonderful conversion of "Garlic" some would not bother to grey-scale this but what a superb

simple shot that makes us look at texture and shape rather than the colour, I could go on and on about the quality

thats on here and posted but the above are just examples of how interesting mono is and a great test of vision and

skill for all.

The competitions have been going well thanks to Crimbos efforts, please keep entering them, I am trying to organize with company's a small prize for the monthly winners so keep an eye open for that.

This forum is quite unique on the net, its a niche market in a world of colour, thats why its slow in membership

growth, but the more people join the better it will function, over the last few weeks I have been busy surfing

different photography forums not only to keep mono alive and kicking but to also try pull members here, it does

work as can be seen, but it would be nice for all to mention this area in cyberspace to try and attract more

visitors, hopefully with my inclusion in the black and white photograpghy magazine in March more will find us here

and make a great forum even better.

Martin

Very nicley put Martin....

What i would also like to point out is the dedicated members who have stayed with the forum and have shown a huge increase in editing and quality of brillient images.

It would be very hard to beat such a forum thats dedicated purely on monochrome.

Thnx for all your patience and teachings... emoticon
