Re: My web site Thank you everyone. Now you have me puzzled Hugh. What Leica did you have and what really did happen to it? I wasn't exactly looking for another camera, but I started thinking about the old photographers a couple of years ago and whether any of their cameras were still being used. That led to my first visit to Ebay and the rest is history. I put it down to fate.
Hugh. What Leica did you have and what really did happen to it?
Hi Zooey,
It was a Leica R8 like this
a camera which I loved.
Unfortunately it got destroyed in a fire. I had quite a low paid job at the time so it was not covered by insurance. After that happened I gave up photography for quite a while.
Re: My web site That is a sad story, particularly so because it led to you giving up for a while. My neighbours had a fire many years ago that destroyed everything and it was the little things that they missed most. It's good to see that you've picked up the threads again, although I daresay it's something you will never forget. We had our ferrets stolen (twice) in spite of having the best security possible. They were part of our family and you don't get over something like that either. Life can be tough, but mostly the good times tend to outweigh the bad.
At the end of the day it was just an object (albeit a beautiful and well built object), there are far worse things happening in the world then me loosing a camera.
I am happy getting back into things with my trusty 400D (and before that the Finepix s7000zoom). I do really want to get a much 'better' camera at some point. What I would really like to get is some sort of view camera with a digital back (and some nice Rodenstock lenses - that is a bit out of my price range at present though
