Hmm seems like quite a few arent that impressed with the 5dmk2 specs, including our own Bachs... (going for a 1Ds3) http://www.runboard.com/bthedigitalmonochromeforum.f27.t196784

I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts on the 5D2 v 1Ds3 emoticon

I think it is a little early to judge the mkII. We have only seen jpegs from locked cameras, no raw files yet. They are also pre-production cameras. One thing Canon has said, its image quality will surpass the 1DS MK3. So for now, $2,700 vs $7,000 in US dollars would pretty much make up my mind for a landscape camera. Now, if one wants to wait for the 1DS MK4, rumors are putting if over 30 megapixals, maybe 33 to 35. I am hoping somebody will be getting a production camera soon that is unlocked to do an honest review on. Until then, wait, wait, wait. emoticon

Agree with that Dave, people jump far to quick with negative comments, some people love to have a moan emoticon especially on the DDP forum, I have the 5dmk1 and it really is good, but times move quick in digital and I bet the mk2 is awesome, I moved from the 1DMK2 to the 1DMK3 and the difference is mind blowing in IQ and every other aspect, the 5dmk2 will will be the same

Re: Canon EOS 5D markII....

I can't add anything useful to this discussion..

Only that my wife seems to be a natural and takes great pictures with only her mobile phone !!

I'm addicted to my new 5d Mk 1.. I think it's an awesom camera certainly for an amateur and I never dreamt of having something as great as this machine..

Some people make stunning images with a pinhole camera; my point is; shouldn't there be a limit to all this rapid developements ? Maybe it's all just a lot of merchandising and marketing, true artists find there way regardless of sophisticated equipment..

I mean, I know violinists who make a sigarbox sound like a Stradivarius (and also violinists who make a Stradivarius sound lika a sigarbox for that matter emoticon )

I think Martin put it well a few posts up. Image quality is greatly increased. The amount of detail, the amount of work you can do to the file, the dynamic range will allow you to create a much higher quality print. My 400d files do not like to be beat on very much, they will start to display banding quite easily. I would not be able to take any better of a picture with a MKII than my cell phone from a compositional standpoint, but the file quality for the cell phone just is not there. emoticon Hope that makes sense.

Redards,
Dave
