Contrast Grading

Is contrast grading the same as contrast masking under a different name(like this) or something completely different?

Totally skint at the moment but I'll be ordering the video as soon as I can.

Contrast masking is different Steve, however it can be used as part of the Grading concept.

Grading works on this principle ; low contrast more tones,

High contrast less tones.

Combine and mix the grades within an image and you end up with a picture that has great tonal range, controlled shadows and highlights, and with correct brush use no halos

Thanks Chris/Martin... I grasp the concept and it makes good sense.

The Mrs has agreed to go down the docks tonight to fund the video purchase.

Re: Contrast Grading

I'm afraid the wife only returned home last night with £15.50.

Dissapointed, I asked her which tight bugger gave her the 50p?

Her reply was......

All of them.

I'm going to have to wait a little while longer before ordering the video emoticon
