Angle finder
Struggled for years with low shots, getting older don't help, but since I purchased the Canon Angle finder life is so much easier , an example shot was the picture posted here of the Grand turk boat in Whitby harbour, I just knelt down, placed the camera on the ground looked through the finder and got a better perspective from ground level than just getting low. It opens lots of new ideas for you been able to shot so low down, you can adjust the finder magnification by 2.5 which helps for critical focus, ideal for macro, and it rotates 190 degrees with click stops, comes with a nice little case as well
This is another photographic item that really helps you get better more interesting shots, you can also find third party Angle finders that are prob just as good as Canon and cheaper, might be worth looking at.
Rating out of 10
Build quality 8 [ to loose a fitting to camera]
Functionality 10
Value for money 8 [ Canons, although precision made still a bit expensive, I shopped on net and got mine £70 cheaper than Jessops price]
Down sides
I found that when rotating the finder that the click stops seem a little weak and it moves off them to easily, also when attached to the camera viewfinder its simply not a tight enough fit and can fall off might give it a tweak with pliers, second thoughts better not

Re: Angle finder
There is a four-page feature article on Angle Finder C with various examples of it's usage in the Jul-Sep '08 edition of EOS Magazine. The writer is very enthusiastic and positive about this accessory.
It is on my 'wish-list' but has not yet reached the No.1 spot!

Re: Angle finder
I've been using a right-angle finder for some time now ( a DR-6 on my Nikon and Fuji cameras ) - main reason was for shooting low down, but then I found another benefit... I noticed that when viewing a scene through the r/a finder, it's more obvious when you're tilted.
When viewing directly through the viewfinder, you'll always see the world 'upright' but it's not obvious if the camera is tilted. With the r/a finder, you 'disconnect' the viewfinder view from the world and if you tilt the camera, you tilt the view.
I wouldn't be without a r/a finder now.
Keith.

Re: Angle finder
I've been using a third party angle finder (I think it is a 'Seagull) but cheap from ebay and comes in very useful.
It's great on the beach for getting sand ripples and the like, you can get some great perspective almost 3d like shots.
I share the criticisms Martin mentions.
A little loose fitting, not a very positive lock as you rotate it and a bit of a fiddle having to focus it.

Oddly enough, I've got the very same hotshoe spirit level, used lots on tripod of course... I did try the arrangement as you've shown, but when working handheld I can't focus on the spirit level with my left eye whilst viewing the scene with my right eye It'd be a cinch for Apache helicopter pilots though ??
I also recently bought a DR-5 finder ( for circular Nikon eyepieces ) and that is a bit more fiddly in use - trying to rotate can unscrew it. Seems the secret is to pinch the 'locks' whilst rotating the eyepiece. The DR-6 ( for rectangular eyepieces ) doesn't suffer that problem, but can slip off if not watched.

Re: Angle finder
Well I will have to start taking my angle grinder out with me as I have had it for nearly 2 years and never used it yet!
Thanks for the reminder!
