No Martin it's fine, just that I'm a conservative (small C), clinker built boats are supposed to be wooden.

Oh, I'm not a boat expert but I prefer wood to plastic too emoticon Probably wood would look better on the picture too.

Since it is on tonal seperation, I think it could use just a little at the back of the boat and the wet sand behind it. Otherwise looks very good. (except for the plastic boat) emoticon
Wood, concrete, plastic, whatever floats. It all works.

Ugh! That was my first reaction. Cutting out all that sky improved things but not much. Perhaps it's the oars poking me in the eye, I don't know! Just doesn't work for me.

Re: A boat

Having looked at this again I think it would be better if you darkened the sky and increased the contrast of it. The weight of shadow under the boat is disproportionate to the tones in the sky.

As a quick edit I dropped the brightness and increased the contrast in the sky by 30 each.

Have a play and see what you think.

Thanks a lot for the feedback. I think you are pretty right about the sky Bill. Perhaps coposition is all wrong. I thought I could make up for this with selective sharpening and contrast control but well ... Anyway here's my final attempt emoticon
