Here's the original. Taken on the old 20D, not a very big file and can you believe - I can't find the colour original - aaagh I hoipe I hae it backed up somehwere! ( probably do)
There was a bit of greenery in the very foreground which I cloned out
It does look like the canoe might be as you describe in theis 400% enlargement with 500 (max) sharpening - well spotted!
