Re: Ilford~Harman
Hi Martin,
Like some others I'm just starting to think about printing and have only had hit-and-miss success with various print labs.
Just a crazy thought: Would you or Steven or others be willing to print and send in images on our behalf? That might allow more of us to participate with some confidence of quality prints...
If I could somehow work past the quality print factor I'd be willing to give it a go.
BTW, I assume this would be a mono gig?
--- Warm Wishes,
-Andy

Re: Ilford~Harman
If they'd let us yanks in I'd submit. Also depending on the papaer. I've an HP so I'm kind of stuck with their paper. But it does a nice B&W print none the less.

Re: Ilford~Harman
Just an update on this, I have had a meeting with reps from Harman and Ilford, they decided to go ahead and sponsor this forum but needed to work out the finer details, I received an email about 3 weeks ago saying its still been worked on and thats all I know up to now
Big fish little catch maybe, hope not

Re: Ilford~Harman
don't knowing if you still have input into the process but what if they chose some of our images to print up to show off their products? Its a start...gives them something and then they may feel more comfortable offering some support?

Re: Ilford~Harman
Like others, I am at ground zero as far as printing is concerned.
The immediate issue I'm coming across is crop sizes to fit standard frames.
I've now started to set the crop dimensions at the start of the editing process, having been used to the freedom of web based images.
I'd be happy to participate and happy to use your paid printing service Martin.

Re: Ilford~Harman
I'm with Andrew and Bachs on this one. We have an ancient printer that I never use. For exhibition work I don't mind spending what's necessary for fibre based prints, but it would be way too much for a competition. If Martin could handle the extra work, then I'm happy to pay for such a top quality service. It sounds like fun!

.
actually -combined with this learning forum - that would be a very good place for ILFORD to start
i.e. join in with this forum as the place and product to START printing our B+W shots

Re: Ilford~Harman
This is part of an email from one of Ilfords Reps I recieved today
"I don't think supporting digital monochrome has been ruled out by any means and obviously, with HARMAN offering digital papers for black and white printing, there's a lot of synergy between what you both do. I personally think it makes sense for them to be involved, however I won't be able to progress things until Judy's back at her desk. I've made a note to chase it up with her on her return and will make sure I come back to you one way or another then."
I hope that's OK and that you can bear with us.
Best wishes,
Wayne
Sounds promising and Wayne is a very nice guy to talk to, so fingers crossed
