Re: This (beer) boy is trying to man-up!
Cooze is cooze, but I was talking about bourbon. The only time the two should be mixed is when one is used as a chaser for the other.
Good bourbon is wasted on most women. It's a final bastion for men, is bourbon. To sit with a friend, in the evening on the porch, watching the sun go down and talking weighty subjects, in company with a good bourbon is an amazingly fine thing, and uniquely American.
**** the Japs. I'm in an American frame of mind.

**** the Japs? That's your answer to everything. I feel I have to step up to the plate for the titless wonders. And it has absolutely nothing to do with who signs my paycheck.

I'm so proud of both scuff and tweed in this thread. they're still a couple of pussys

Re: This (beer) boy is trying to man-up!
Well, just to update, Scuff and I went to that beer and bourbon fest last week and tried about 30 whiskeys. Some were very nice, others very average, some very bad, and a few that were really remarkable. On the nice scale were the Jacks, the Wild Turkeys, Knob Creek, and the Maker's Mark. These I think will probably be the ones that are my everyday drinks, although one that I've wanted to try wasn't represented at the fest was Bulleit. Got a bottle on the cheap today at a Grand Opening of a new nearby liquor store. The dude paid a cheap 14.99. Seemed cheap and I have to say if this is their regular price, it might be my go to. Tasty.
But now onto the ****ing remarkable ones. The best one was Booker's. It's Jim Beam's top shelf. 126 proof and smooth as ****ing velvet. Rich flavor, little to no bite, and a really rich bouquet. This is a special one, fellas. The others were pretty close, but not quite there. Jefferson Reserve was really great. We had a few goes at that booth. And another that I thought was excellent was called Rock Hill Farms. It was in a bottle similar to Patrone tequilla. I really liked it but Scuff was a little less sold.
A good day was had by all and we tried a ton of free booze. We got the VIP pass so we had tasted everything we came for by the time the rabble arrived for the free beer. We also had two nice pork bbq sam-i-ches.

Re: This (beer) boy is trying to man-up!
Yessir. Booker's was the best. I went in for a nap when I got home, though. Too old to drinki so much during the afternoon. It was well worth the price of admission to find out what we wanted to know. When I drink up the supply I have on hand, I'm going to buy Booker's. Weed was sold on that Rockhill but I remain unconvinced.
He's right about the rabble, though - after they opened the doors to the general public, it was like something out of MTV. And mostly they drank the beers.
I tried to get Weed to go for a pony ride so I could take his picture but he wouldn't go for it. I evcen offered him money. That would have been priceless. Then, the following wednesday at book club he started to drink tequilas. I gave him a short lesson in the types and when last seen he was saying he may start drinking tequila. I doubt it though. I think we got hammered.

I ain't ready to drink it on it's own. What would you chase it with? I was thinking that since most tequila drinks are used with lemons and limes, that Sprite would be a good chaser. Sometimes the tequila is peppery, almost. I'd like to find a good soda companion to that...

Re: This (beer) boy is trying to man-up!
I'd suggest drinking it until you like it. I won't lie and tell you the first beer I ever drank I thought tasted good, nor the first shot of whiskey I hammered back. They tasted like ****, but I acquired a taste. It's like most of the good things in life, you gotta experience a little discomfort to appreciate them. Sprite chaser.........sweet fancy Moses.
