Party at Scuffs
It was our turn to host our neighborhood party, something we have once a month for the little group we call our neighbors. Builds some sense of community in an otherwise impersonal world. Had the usual amenities but went out for a bottle of tequila.
I had the high end Family Reserve in my hands and then I stopped. I put it back and instead picked up an old favorite - Corazon. This is a very nice anejo in an attractive long-necked bottle. It has a very slight peppery burn to it and yet it is smooth. Kind of like a fine sandpapering. Not harsh, not raw. Notes of wood and caramel and maybe some leather. I got a few of the guys to try it - these are lite beer boys, so, they aren't real adventurous. They drank it straight without slamming it and they actually asked for more!!
This is a nice tequila to drink on a regular basis; I'd rate it up there with Herradura repo and it doesn't blow up your wallet. I spent $53 on this; Herradura usually comes in at $45.
By the way, I got a very nice return on a karmic investment last Thursday when Weed, sitting next to me at the bar drinking Patron Anejo said that he loved drinking tequila; he then said to me, "Thanks, dude," and patted me on the back.

But the Mexican drug cartels are killing all the workers and slowing down production in a war against their government. Vincente Fox started a war on them and now he's gone and the cartels are killing thousands and burning the agave fields.
That's going to do two things: drive the boutique distillers out of business and drive the prices of other product higher and higher until the market collapses.
Woe is me.

I'm pretty sure the clans are not coming down out of the highlands to rape, pillage and destroy the stills. At least I think not.
