Booze and Beer expedition has begun...

So I was thinking the other day how boring booze can be sometimes. Of course there's nothing wrong with a goto and mine have become Buffalo Trace Bourbon, Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA, and Natural Light when slummin' it or just want the flavor of beer in the most modest sense of the term...

Anyway, I was reading a little of Islands in the Stream today and Hemingway was drinking Gin and tonic with a lime peel and "a few drops of bitters." That made me reminisce about past favorite drinks so I made one and enjoyed it thoroughly.

I think what I'm going to do is pick a weekly, maybe bi-weekly emoticon , drink and either revisit or explore some classic drinks that are new to me. I think next on the list is the Rusty Nail. Then maybe the Tom Collins. Who knows from there but I feel like these "old timey" drinks need to be explored.

Anyone wish to join the expedition?

Go rusty nail and you'll never go back.

Well, yes. This is interesting, indeed. Several years ago I explored the "classic" ****tails. I drank Sidecars, Americainos, Sazeracs, Gin Rickeys, Tom and John Collinses and Gimlets. I'd like to do this also and try the Rusty Nail and the Manhattan. I'm in.

Alright, we'll have to do it at the Cru because they're more likely to use decent booze and have a reliable recipe. And we can do it at home too. I'm going to the Rusty Nail tonight.

I like this ****ing idea fellas. I've been in a ****tail rut lately too. I may start on this little trip. Hopefully this ****ing hotel I'm at has a decent bar.

Sazerac is the quintessential New Orleans ****tail, and it's ****ing phenomenal, if made right.

Leads, I first drank Sazeracs at Redfish Grill (is that right?) just off Bourbon Street. I don't know if it was made right but it was a good drink all right. A bit complicated to make, though.

I don't think a Hurricane would qualify as a ****tail, though, but then again . . .

This whole new club makes me very happy. Just think. I finally get to go, on a more or less regular basis, to a nice place with good booze, good food and somewhat knowledgable mixologists. A bit pricey but worth every penny.

Redfish Grill is a great place, right on Bourbon. It's a Brennan's Property (the most prolific restaurant family in the city) and they know how to make ****tails. Hurricane's will pot me on my ass and make me puke, probably from the load of ****ing sugar in them.

I'm going to start tonight and drink my way through the classic ****tail repertoire. A worthy ****ing club indeed.

Good karma for you sir!

I have a list of ****tails. I'll post them tonight, if i remember. We're going to do like 1 new one each week.

That gin and tonic with bitters sounded so good I whent out and bought the **** to make it. I dont know why I ever stoped drinking that drink it is so good. I was a bit shocked at the price of bitters though.
