0-6 against the Yankees this year. They'll eek out a bull**** victory today, as a small pittance. I'm tired of them pissing down their legs against major market teams.

Dude, I feel ya. It's hard to stick with a loser who'll be lucky to be .500 at season's end for six months. Especially when you lose 20 of 30 games in any given month...

My issue is that the Hennepin County Board approved a .025% sales tax in Hennepin County to fund a new stadium for the Twins. 90% of the public polled that they wanted it put to a referendum, but the Board just approved the tax. So we built them a new stadium, opening next year. An outdoor stadium, mind you, sans roof. Now Minnesota in April ain't what I'd call baseball weather, and all these purist ****suckers that are pining for outdoor baseball must be from ****ing San Diego, because sitting outside for 3 hours in April, and May in the twilight requires ****ing coats, and for most of the pussies in this town, it requires hats and mittens, too. Come September, the same can be said. Also, Minnesota is the land of 10,000 lakes, and all those lakes create a little thing called humidity in July and August, not to mention mosquitoes.
Couple this dumb**** move with a team that is constantly run on the cheap, a team that refuses to go out and spend money on one or two good players to put them over the edge and be a true contender. What you get is a bunch of kids that still belong on the farm, that over achieve on occasion. Mark my words, Joe Mauer and Justin Morneau will not be career Twins, and we'll be stuck footing the bill for a new stadium in years to come with a constantly rotating stock of up and comers. We're a farm team for the big leagues, that's all we are.
Alas, this ****all of a town just can't seem to get over it's love for the never ending story of "The Little Engine that Could," so Minnesota gives them a pass.
I'm so tired of hearing "Well, we compete for a divisional title every year."
Nobody ever seems to rememeber that we always lose in the first round of the playoffs, provided we even make the playoffs. I'm telling you, this team is a knockoff of the Pirates, only we're in the dominant American League, and we've got people fooled.
To the Baldimore contingency, I'd lay a bet that if the Twins were in the East, we'd perennially finish beneath the O's. Nonetheless, it's ****ing baseball, and I gotta cheer for the hometown team. I'm just tired of watching the same **** happen every year. You think we couldn't use Santana right now? For some reason, we couldn't afford him. I'm not sayin', I'm just sayin.

I tried. I really did. I turned on a couple games when I went to bed and listened to the play-by-play. Even that sucked.
Ahhh, Orioles on the radio. Chuck Thompson painted a real picture and the O's played the game, like Weed says. Luis Aparicio, Jim Gentile, Willie Tasby, Brooks Robinson, Gus Triandos, Willie Miranda, George Kellar, Dave Palmer, Hoyt Wilhelm. Man in those days, even the Scuffster listened to baseball. And there were guys like Willie Mays and Hank Aaron, Ted Williams, Duke Snyder and Pee Wee Reese. Real ball players.
Sorry. An old timer rant.
