Dam near shat myself....
Was drinking beer all afternoon, up at the old man's cabin, and decided to fire up his ATV and cruise out on the lake. There's about 8 inches of ice on the lakes right now, and they claim 6 is safe for ATVs. Anyways, I was just whipping ****ties out on the ice, and running back to the shack for a beer, back out on the ice, etc. Well, it turns out the Yellow River runs through Benoit Lake, and adjacent to the public access is the tributary to Rice Lake. Now, this water is moving fast enough through the stream that it doesn't freeze. Open ****ing water! So I'm cruising on the ATV in the dark, and noticed the ATV was handling better than normal on ice. I eased up on the throttle, and heard some cracking, looked down to see I was on slush, then looked to the left and saw open water about 30 feet away. I hammered the throttle and got the **** out of there. Now the lake is only about 3-4 feet deep in that spot, but I was damn close to burying the 4-wheeler, and getting that ****er out would have been cold, plus, the ATV up here at the lake isn't mine, it's the old man's. I got off the lake, came inside, and started drinking the rye. Open water ain't cool when you're out on a frozen lake....

Damn, I wish I were there, up in a North Woods cabin, drinking with you. Fire in the fireplace, fishing that open water. Muskies! Moose! Birch trees and wood smoke. Drunk on the porch. Where's the cabin? I wanna google the location and see.
