Until May 2008, Doug Hampton also worked for Ensign, as a Senate aide. He said Wednesday his livelihood had been ruined by his wife's affair.

It's a new world out there. I am married for the third time, so I'm no bargain, but I never have had an affair. There is no honor any more, and did we raise these bums to be like this? My experience and observation says that we did when we decided to iconize and adore the American child. We gave them everything they wanted, taught them to be greedy and spoiled the little bastards rotten. No wonder the generation now coming into power was unable to answer the question, "Who lives at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue?," but who did answer the question, "Who lives in a pineapple at the bottom of the sea?"
