Allergies, sinusitis, remedies...
So for the last two months I've been battling what the doctor calls a sinus infection. He prescribed a pretty potent antibiotic about six weeks ago that did nothing. Decongestants didn't work. At one point I was totally clogged in both nostrils. Could get just enough of a pin hole that I could drop some Afrin down while I laid on my back with my head upside down. I did that for about 10 days. Finally, I got sent to a ear, nose, and throat guy. Put me on Prednezone and nasonex.
Cleared me up, but I still feel ****ty. My eyes feel like they're getting pushed out of my head, still have a little bit of a cough, my nose bleeds, and I'm getting about 5-6 hours sleep at night.
I left off of the nasonex about a week ago and some of the earlier symptoms like, sneezing, runny nose, and sore throat came back, but I was able to sleep pretty good. Started the nasonex again on Thursday night and Friday and Saturday I was back to feeling pretty clear but with the eyes popping out feeling and heady feeling again. And the sleep is suffering again.
Anybody had this? Man, I turned 40 and I'm falling apart... What I'm worried about is being prescribed 50 things that I'm going to have to take til the day I die. **** that. I'll stop everything and live with it if I can't figure something out over taking a pill regimen every day.

Allergies baby. You have to move out to OD land where they don't have any plants.
Mucinex-D is what my wife uses.

Re: Allergies, sinusitis, remedies...
When things are really bad I also use Mucinex -D (in Ca it is behind the counter and you have to sign for it)...I use it in combination with a "saline" nasal spray which opens up the sinus passages and is a non irritant, it major function is to relieve dryness you get in your melon from the other ****....
Prednisone....Take that with stomach meds...it's what my internist prescribed to use for ****ing gout..on this daily pill sched 3,2,1,1, stop...Google it ..it is a bad ass.

Re: Allergies, sinusitis, remedies...
Well, went to the doctor today and he gave me 3 new sprays to evaluate. He said he'd write a prescription for the one that is most effective and least annoying. Frankly, I hate the state of medicine and prescribing this and that to solve this or that. I think I'm going back to Mucinex D. I used to use it and forgot about it. And the saline thing I used that looks like a teapot where you pour water in one nostril and it drains thru the other was effective. I hate taking pills and using **** that gives me a headache. Back to the basics, fellas.

Welcome to old age Tweed, it only gets worse from here. And keep telling yourself you are not going to be one of those that take a regiment of pills each day. This is modern times when they have a pill or treatment for anything and everything that ails you. Good Luck!!!

More Garlic. MorewHISKEy! and, ALTHOUGH I respect the **** out of your career decision, you DO work in a ****ing petrie dish. You said so yourself. Move to M innesota, dude. It's a union state, we love teachers, germs die in the cold, and I can make a futile attempt to romance your wife on the side.

Re: Allergies, sinusitis, remedies...
Well, I might sound like a pussy, AMC, but I've never been so close to sticking a power drill up my nose in my life... That ****, whatever it is/was, was the most aggravating illness I've ever had. Couldn't breathe, sleep, or taste a ****ing thing. Nothing worked to clear it except, like I said, Afrin and Neo Pseunphrine. I hate using it, but it did clear it for a while. Now the **** I'm using keeps me clear, but I've got this persistent headache. Whatever. I don't usually ***** about being sick, and as Slack says I do work in a petrie dish so I get sick regularly, but the length of this infection is just beyond pissing me off.
The ear, nose, and throat doctor even tested for mersa... that ****ing super bacteria. Inconclusive, but there was some indication of some kind of infection. So here I am with no antibiotics, a recommendation for an allergist, 4 mists to try, and a nose that if I stop using anything I'm blocked again.
And as for pills each day. I take my one for my stomach. Supposed to be once a day. I'm able to go about 3-4 days between unless I eat something really starchy or rich. But I'll take it if I need it. I'm not against pills. I know it sounded that way. I'd rather avoid them, honestly, but I think I'm still too young to start any kind of "rest of your life" pill regimen. I'd rather try some homeopathic stuff first.

Say what you want about the tenets of homeopathy, at least it's an ethos. . . .but Weed, man, there is no need, there's no ****ing need to be a homeo, pal.
