Rory was a phenomenal guitar player. Love the link. I remember hearing the Screaming jay version and it blew me away. The guy was really out there.
Lots of cocaine I am sure. Hey Scuff how do you like that Tom Waits album? The live version?

I love it, man. Keep it in my truck. But you miss something when you play a live Tom Waits album because his show always has something going on. The audience is responding to it but you don't know what it is. Tom is still the single most amazing lyricist I ever heard and although a lot of people hate him because he is sort of depressive in his music, I think that he not only is a iconic musician he brings that musical narrative style of his to a level that could well be described as performance art. I appreciate very much your sending that CD my way. Do you like it?
I think of him doing his live scenes and think that when the people applaud it it's in a sense like when Chuck berry did his duck walks. He does little dramas on stage that feed into the next song.

We all feel that way at times. He's dead, now, though, face down in the muck so you could enjoy his music. So many genius guitarists die early.
I was wondering about that show, though. It was all guys, no chicks. I knew he played smaller clubs so he could get up close and personal with his fans - never see that nowadays. Tom puts a personal touch on, too. I liked him better when he played a drunken sot-like guy looking for pussy. He's lately gone junkyard noisy, which I admit I don't understand but his lyrics are always great.
