Roses - A Question
Most of us have TBL-inspired nicknamed (Scuff & Slack notable exceptions). What is the meaning of "Roses on your Grave"? I'm thinking a Dimaggio-Marylin Monroe kind of thing.
Am I wrong?
And while we're at it, what the **** is a "Scuff"?
Inquiring minds want to know.

Re: Roses - A Question
In the closing scene of TBL, the song,"Dead Flowers" is playing. Written by Mick Jagger & Keith Richards...Townes Van Zandt (one of my favorite performers) sings his version. The lyrics;
Well, when you're sitting there
In your silk upholstered chair
Talking to some rich folks that you know
Well I hope you won't see me
In my ragged company
You know I could never be alone
Take me down little Susie, take me down
I know you think you're the Queen of the Underground
And you can send me dead flowers every morning
Send me dead flower by the mail
Send me dead flowers to my wedding
And I won't forget to put roses on your grave
Well, you're sitting back
In your pink Cadillac
Making bets on Kentucky Derby Day
I'll be in my basement room
With a needle and a spoon
And another girl can take my pain away
Take me down little Susie, take me down
I know you think you're the Queen of the Underground
And you can send me dead flowers every morning
Send me dead flower by the mail
Send me dead flowers to my wedding
And I won't forget to put roses on your grave
Take me down little Susie, take me down
I know you think you're the Queen of the Underground
And you can send me dead flowers every morning
Send me dead flower by the US mail
Say it with dead flowers at my wedding
And I won't forget to put roses on your grave
No I won't forget to put roses on your grave
So, that song really tied the movie together for me...thus RosesonYourGrave!

Re: Roses - A Question
A scuff is what you do to your shoes or toes when you are drunkenly shuffling along the street on your way home from a tequila contest and you lost your car but have a general fuzzy idea of where you live and you left your shoes maybe somewhere on the toilet as you tried to pull off an upper-decker but had to take it on the lam and you accidentally slide your feet along the asphalt, skinning them bloody and filling the lacerations with crud. It is then said that you have scuffed your feet. Or your shoes.
I needed a name back then and the good ones were taken. Maybe I should change it, yes, yes? Naw, Flaming asshat was taken.
I might, though. Start over. Rebirth. In celebration of hitting 100 karma points, I'll do the supuku thing.

Re: Roses - A Question
hey Roses, not that I'm a huge fan of Guns 'n Roses, but their cover of that song is really fantastic. Have you heard it?

Re: Roses - A Question
Donnelly...yeppers, Guns 'n Roses version is good, but I prefer Townes version over all the rest. I think it's been done by seventeen different artists at this point.
