"Wands out, books away, we will be studying defensive spells today" said Professor Lupin as Shanny skidded her way into the class.
"Sorry I'm late Professor!" She gasped as she slid into her seat next to Ryah "Overslept."
Professor Lupin raised an amused eyebrow.
"This wouldn't have anything to do with a party i may or may not have seen notices about, would it?" he said.
"Party? After curfew? Sir, i am a prefect, i would NEVER be involved in something against the rules." Shanny replied, a little too innocently.
"Yes, of course, well anyway, as i was saying, defensive curses. Who can name me the most commonly used defence?" Professor Lupin continued the lesson and Shanny sighed in relief.

Thank God. Defense Against the Dark Arts.. Raelin thought to herself. Her favorite class. With her favorite teacher, Professor Lupin. He was amazing, and yes, like many of the other girls whispered, he wasn't bad looking.
"Wands out, books away, we will be studying defensive spells today" said Professor Lupin.
As he said this, Shanny slid into class.
"Sorry I'm late Professor!" She gasped as she slid into her seat next to Ryah. Raelin felt a pain of jealousy slip through her. Shanny was amazingly popular with pretty much everyone. And she had TRUE friends here at Hogwarts. Professor Lupin looked at Shanny, amused and asked, "This wouldn't have anything to do with a party I may or may not have seen notices about, would it?" he said.
"Party? After curfew? Sir, I am a prefect, I would NEVER be involved in something against the rules." Shanny replied. Raelin giggled to herslef as Shanny told this to Professor Lupin. She knew for a fact that Shanny would be at that party, but who cared? It was just a party.

"Well sir, there's Expelliarmus."
"Very good Raelin, take 10 points for Gryffindor. Now, Expelliarmus is the---"
Raelin drowned out Professor Lupin's voice as she went on to wonder if her whole year at Hogwarts would be this lonely.

Professor Lupin continued the class and Shanny sat resting her head on her hand.
I know this... she thought to herself and prepared to slip off into a daydream.
She was shaken out of her stupor when Professor Lupin said from right beside her
"You can be the first to demonstrate then Shannon."
Ah, bugger. she cursed, then stood up and walked to the front of the class.
"All you have to do is disarm me, I'm not going to defend myself, so don't put too much aggression into the spell." the Professor joked and Shanny smiled slightly.
"Okay, whenever you're ready."
"As if I was really defending myself?" Shanny asked and Professor Lupin nodded. Okay then. she grinned to herself.
"Expelliarmus! Furnunculus!" Shanny yelled and the class laughed as Professor Lupin retrieved his wand, covered in boils.
"Yes, thank you for that... informative display, Shannon." He said, although he too was smiling.
"Cheeky though it was, that was an accurate portrayal of how Expelliarmus can be used combined with other spells or jinxes to efficiently deal with an opponent. Replace Furnunculus with Stupefy, which Shannon was wise enough to refrain from using on a teacher, and if used correctly, your opponent is taken care of without even landing a hit on you. Now, pair off and practise disarming- ONLY disarming- with each other."
Shanny turned back to head to her desk but was stopped by a hand on her shoulder.
"I think I deserve my chance for revenge, don't you Miss Stevens?" Professor Lupin said and Shanny winced. She looked up to see Ryah, James and Jade all laughing at her and glared at them, but obediently turned away to work with the Professor, passing Raelin on the way, who was looking sorry for Shanny.
"Don't worry, he won't hurt me." She said, smiling. Raelin was in her year in Gryffindor, and used to hang out with the year above more than their year, but she was nice enough.
