Gwendolyn walks down from the girl's dormitory, book in hand. She sees an open chair in front of the fireplace and hurriedly walks over to it. She sits down, makes herself comfortable, and opens her book to the first page of chapter 1.

Raelin was sitting in the corner of the common room reading a book her mother had sent her when a girl came down from the dormitory with her own book. Gwendolyn? What's she doing here? She should be out with friends, not in here reading a book like a loser....like me. Raelin thought to herself. Rae knew that Gwen was a sixth year and that she was a fellow Chaser on the Quidditch team. But Rae wasn't sure if Gwen was after peace and quiet or if she wanted to make herself available for a chat. But, she sat down in the front of the fireplace and started reading her book. Well, no chance of me talking to her now. And I certainly won't want to interrupt her while she's reading. I hate it when people interrupt me, so won't do it to her. I'll just talk to her at practice. So, Raelin looked down at her book and tried to read. Instead, she found herself looking at the same line over and over again, hoping that Gwen would interrupt her.

As Gwendolyn started to read the first line of her book, she heard a slight cough from behind her. She turned around to see Realin sitting in the corner, holding a book in her hands as well.
"Oh hello Rae! How have you been?" She asked. "Sorry for interrupting. I'll let you get back to your reading," She added, so as not to appear rude, and started to turn back around towards the fire.

FINALLY! "No Gwen, that's fine. I've read this book before, but, my mom seems oblivious to that." Raelin got up from her chair in the corner and walked over to the fireplace. She took the chair nearest to the fireplace and faced Gwen. "So. How was your summer?" Raelin braced herself for Gwen's rejection of any conversation.
