hmmm...not entirely sure I understand the question Gary.

So your BT line was in the kitchen yes?..but its not any longer as the kitchen is being decorated...ok got that...but where is the line now and how did it connect to the pc prior to the Kitchen alterations?....suppose what I am asking is how come you can't connect directly to the pc from the home hub?

Prob didn't explan that well! emoticon

I have 2 cable running from one line, one to phone downstairs the other for my PC, the cable runs upstairs and my home hub connect to it! But this is going!

So gonna plug my home hub downstair to the main phone line with my phone, and gonna need a wireless adaptor to connect to my PC from upstairs......make sense?

what he means carlos is that he did connect to the hub directly via the phone line and ethernet but the phoneline extension went from the kitchen into his spare room but as the wall is knocked down this is no longer available so,you need a wireless adaptor gary just like the one in the picture just follow the instalation disc which comes with the dongle and it should find the home hub if not you will have to reconfigure the hub

Yep Gotcha Gaz. Ok well yes you can certainly purchase the item you pictured in your earlier post, it will do the job.

Just make sure it is compatible with the BT home hub. most wireless adaptors will find most wireless signals although some do lose a wee bit of speed in the transfer and a few have trouble finding the Router (your hub in this case).

All the pc's here run from my router, only one..the main one.. runs direct the others are all wireless. Hannah'a upstairs used the adaptor you are thinking off...but...poking out of the usb slot in the front or back does make them liable to get damaged, knocked or snapped off. Hannah has been through two for just those same reasons.

The answer to your question is yes they wiill do the job fine...but I do reccommend internal ones...they can be a bit quicker as they dont lose transfer signal.

.
They are very simple to fit, pretty much slot them in..turn pc on...run software disc provided and away you go.

Up to you of course..but both will do the job.
