All-Starr Quiz Edition: Do You Know Your Ringo Starr?
With Ringo's tour well underway, here's a special LarryG QUIZ honoring our favorite drummer. Lots of tough quesions here....and even some controversary. So good luck, and good drumming.
1. Who is Bernard Purdie, and why does he think you should care?
2. The critics panned it, and so did most Beatle fans. What was the title of Ringo's biography as written by Alan Clayson?
3. Explain significance of Klaatu in Ringo's recording career. (Hint: the band by the same name is only a partial answer.)
4. How many (and which) Beatles had agreed to perform on Ringo's "I'm the Greatest?"
5. What was the claim to fame of "Ringo or Robin"?
6. Who called Ringo, "a sodding great Al Capp?"
7. Who is Chips Moman?
8. Whose wedding and in what year did Ringo jam with George and Paul?
9. Bonus points if you can name the second wedding and year in which Ringo, George and Paul reprised their wedding jamming art.
10. What Bob Dylan album jacket features Ringo Starr?
11. Who was Ringo referring to when he said, "I think the danger was mainly to him and his career?"
12. Which projected All-Starr band member was dropped by Ringo during tour rehearsals?
13. Who was Ringo referring to when he sang: "If I'm gonna get you, well, I gotta be strong."
14. What Beatle song did Ringo say featured "good drums."
15. Who introduced Billy Preston to Ringo and the Beatles, and when?
16. What was the named of the first band that Ringo played in?
17. Who was the "Step Ladder"?
18. Ex-girlyfriend Nancy Andrews earned album credits with Ringo. What did she purportedly do? (Hint there's multiple possible answers to this.)
19. Who are Jeremy Slate and Locke Walls, and how do those names connect to Ringo Starr?
20. Ringo co-starred with Marlon Brando in Candy. Name another connection that Ringo has to the legendary actor.

Re: All-Starr Quiz Edition: Do You Know Your Ringo Starr?
I'll take the Bernie Purdie one...he's the session drummer who claims to have played on many of the mid-sixties Beatles records. Ironically I once heard an interview with Paul discussing the early formation of Wings and he said something along the lines of
"we didn't want a well known drummer like Bernard Purdie" (refering to Wings)

Re: All-Starr Quiz Edition: Do You Know Your Ringo Starr?
Some good answers and a wrong one as well. I'm holding off on the final quiz answers until after the holiday weekend.
Hopefully, that will give the other Moondogs an opportunity to play and see if they know their Ringo as well as they say they do.

Thanks LL for saving Manon's bacon.
I hope more folks participate in these. They take me hours to research, prepare and write.
Have a great 4th.....AND Happy 66th Birthday to Ringo, a week early.
