It's not to catch criminals as much as it is to get cash. They set up cameras to catch speeders for cash. I love the sign on the highway that says 50 MPH in construction zone. Okay, I'll go along with that when they are actually working. 2 am in the morning or on a Sunday when there's no workers it makes no sense to be ticketing people. Just consider it taxation without representation.
Re: i spent last night in the citrus county jail.... You might just get off with some probation Marshall (and some fines of course). One little stinking prescription pill cause a lot of havoc. I carry 2 or 3 xanaxs in my pocket at all time. They'd probably send me up the creek for that.

I was struggling with an abcess tooth and he has a pharmacy at his house due to Viet Nam. He still carries a bullit in his body. He gave me some pills to get me thru till the surgery. Vicodin sucks.
