Ordinairily I wouldn't mean telling the Pattie story..ok...bragging actually...but since Pattie said that no one else knew about it...then, maybe I shouldn't....
Anyhow, I had Pattie sign my copy of Hunter Davies' "The Beatles" (1st edition)...the Richard Starkey portrait of G&P from '68. She said it looked like a baby picture!
Anyhow, the Nancy story...she signed the cover of "Ringo the 4th" for me...and set me straight about the legs on the cover....then couldn't remember the name of the friend/model they belonged to...then helpfully looked through her book to find it (I really should buy it...she's a nice lady who thinks the world of Ringo)...to which I replied..."Well, there goes the fantasy I've had for the last 30 years!" Anyhow...once it was time for movin' on (up), Nancy whispered to me, "Between you & me...I like your fantasy better."
I guess I get along with Beatle birds better than German bassists.

By the way, seeing as how "It Don't Come Easy" was initially recorded during the "Sentimental Journey" sessions, I believe it's possible that if Ringo did drum on any the tunes, it would have been Klaus's number. Obviously, Ringo's kit was readily available.
