As I watch floats go by towards the city Marina gathering for tonights Jaycee's Christmas Parade, I have some thoughts! We plan to close the office early as the Parade route ends here at our building. The Parade starts at 6 so the Police will be gathering here a few hours ahead of time. The road barriers are usually already outside waiting to be put in the road, but I cannot see them from here.
The Bossman get's wood going out and protecting his parking lot till we close. He seems to really dig being able to tell dawdling Policemen if they are hindering our customers parking. A co-worker bought him an orange traffic vest once as a joke.
My Brother and Sisters family gather in the same place each year. Closing early I will be able to join them. The Youngest Brat sadly has to work during the Parade butt once again her co-worker 'Sweet Heather' has managed to get off for one of our Family gatherings while at least one of my kids has to work. Heather is my Nephews wife now butt she rarley misses a gathering, and never misses a trip out of town or when they go out to eat. The Oldest Brat has her friend here from Californy so not sure what their plans are. She expects to give him a longer tour of the area than LL got. I bet she does not remember the Tiny Tim Motel though her friend I am sure does not know who Tiny tim is. It is her friends Birthday Today and I feel bad for not getting something special for him to find upon waking! I may have to leave the Parade early to go get the Brat from work.
I have the Christmas radio station on in the background as the program director responded to my e-mail request that they play Ringo's christmas songs. He wrote back "Well see what we can do"! I have been in hte Parade a coupla times as a kid. Probably with the Cubs Scouts once (Hope Liberals don't protest me for being in the evil Cub Scouts) and a time or two in the Jr High Band. My Brats have been in a few with the School band and the Jr Firefighters. The Youngest was on the float for the Jr Firefighters and they were playing a mock band and she had my snare drum and pretended to play with the music which included georges 'Ding dong ding Dong' as well as selections from Ringo's christmas cd. I even had a letter to the editor published in the local paper about it and managed to mention George and Ringo.

Hello.
I believe I e-mailed you before George Harrison died, asking you to
please consider playing some of Ringo Starr's critically acclaimed,
but ignored by radio, Chrsitmas cd, 'I Wanna Be Santa Claus'.
I know Ringo's Christmas album is a classic that deserves to be heard
by listeners. I heard the track 'Come on Christmas' from Ringo's cd
played from a float in this years Panama City Christmas parade. Last
Christmas while in Mcdonald's, I heard Ringo's 'Winter Wonderland'
being played over McDonalds radio system. I think they use the modern
version of Muzak which plays new and modern stuff that does have a
beat to it and not the music usually associated with Muzak.
Ringo's cd has a half dozen good rocking songs including a
Ringo version of 'Little Drummer Boy' with 'Back Off Boogaloo' type
drumming. I think this would be a wonderful addition to your playlist.
I look forward to hearing it on your station.
I was watching the Christmas parade that I had taped off tv and the
float just before Santa Claus had a girl play-acting on drums to songs
and the song playing as it went in front of the camera's was George
Harrisons Holiday tune called 'Ding Dong Ding Dong' (This song also
features Ringo on drums thus making it half a Beatle song anyway).
It was wonderful. I Thank you for playing John Lennon's Christmas record.
Re: Christmas Parade!! A Week from Today and I will be working at office 2 so I won't be off in time to see it begin. It used to start at 8 butt the parade was so long it took till 11 or so before it was over. Now it starts at 6 or 6:30. Off ice 1 were I am right now will close early because we sit on the corner where the parade ends and the Boss and the parade watchers and the police always fight over keeping our parking lot open. The Boss now closes early that day but not at Office 2!
Re: Christmas Parade!! Glad that the Christmas Parade goes on long enough for you to enjoy at least some of it!!!! There are some home movies of the 4th of July parades from the 1950's and 1960's around here somewhere....
