Cooking eggs on the sidewalk
Remembering childhood play, digging at the melted tar on the road. Air conditioning had not yet been invented and fans were the accordian folded paper type....
At the NY World's fair in 1964, the Simon's Mattress Company had an exhibit of some new fangled invention called air conditoning in their resting rooms. Came in handy for one young person suffering heat exhaustion after a blistering day at the fair.
Today was the day to finally give in and buy the last box fan available at the local discount store.
Even thought the pets are afraid of the noise and the tv now has to be set at top volume, the new breeze is welcome relief....
*Gets out measuring tape in anticipation of a window air conditioner unit purchase....

The street too hot to walk on so you had to run fast on the balls of your feet...grownups were not seen as perverted criminals out to kill you....throwing rotten apples at cars.....being poor was not seen as degraded....going to bed and the sun still out...starting school and it was cold in the morning and hot by the afternoon..

it has been hot enough to cook a roofer....the heat index has been over 100 degrees for a few days.....drink plenty of fluids...and get plenty of sex both help....beat the heat...
