You Moved Out Yet?

That is what a friend of my Brothers asked one of my daughters. For those interested the status of the move from Rathaven Ma Branch back to Rathaven that was my headquarters from December 92 (moved in Week before Daddy died) to present, cept for the past 2 years I have been at Ma's. Steve A had a 3 year span and I have had two and the Wife is being friendly and helpful in the move. She comes by when we are there cleaning and we are eating Sunday Dinner with her folks again, though I was always welcome it was not easy to go during the darkest days!

We moved the sofa and love seat with the help of the Nephew and Dr Johnny and his truck and trailer. We still have to move the fridge as we don't have one and Sis says she does not want Ma's. We still have lots of little junk to move, as well as a dresser or two. One big obstacle I dreaded was moving my 9 crates of albums (Sounds like alot but alot of them are crap or in bad shape). So I moved all them one Day and got that hurdle behind me. One step at a time LL reminds me.

I called and made arrangements to get the natural gas turned on so we can have hot water and for the gas stove. Just gotta pay the $170.00 now. A phone is not urgent butt my oldest stays on the phone with a friend in californy so she says it is urgent. Cable tv also is not a priority. Lots of cleaning to do as with no one living there for awhile the place is a mess of cob webs and being an old drafty house there are signs of Rat's that need to be cleaned. The youngest Brat and I were cleaning out the cupboards and she has put new contact paper in the top cupboards and has bought some plastic glasses and bowls and stuff.

The kid's both have their bedrooms situated and decorated and are excited about the move. The Youngest is ready now and the oldest is ready butt she wants a phone NOW. I was not able to do much my 5 Days off this past Weekend as after paying the mortgage the pickins were slim so had to milk the 10 cents worth of gas in the car and ran out of cleaning supplies. Also as the trash man comes twice a Week we can only throw out what the garbage bin will hold.

We have watched a few movies at the new old new house and listened to tunes while cleaning. I have also recorded a coupla hits on the computer, much to the chagrin of the nephew who feels left out. He is often busy or easily distracted, as am I, when we record. Plus it is hard to be left in peace to record at my Sisters house. I teased him as he started taking guitar lessons and when I asked if I was in his plans for the future in his music and he said "You can still write a thing here or there'. I teased him further by saying "You learn the first lick of 'Mary had a Little Lamb' and you are ready to break up the group eh?"!

I have to go get a 5 gallon can of diesel fuel to see if our furnace still works. Someone lifted my 5 gallon can so I am borrowing Dr Johnny's can and am dreading this like I have every other step of moving as I expect the worse and as my Mother said "Things are never as bad as your mind builds them up to be"! The furnace should work as we had it worked on two Winters ago. My concern is it was not used last Winter and there is not enough fuel in the tank (underground tank) to run it but there is some in there and I am hoping it is not bad and will gum up the works. Being underground at a stable constant temperature I think will have helped keep it from going bad.

I also hope to fence it in if I get some moola from when my Sister buys the house. I want a privacy fence on the back as the view of the alley is just old warehouses. Maybe with a privacy fence I can block that view as well as the glare from the warehouse street light. It is nice to have the light to keep wino's away a bit, butt it interferes with the cle

Looks like my alter ego ratman posted that message and cut off the end. Cannot remember what else I wrote ecept to finish the sentence that the warehouse street light interferes with the open view of the Western sky at night.

The oldest Brat called this morning and said the cable/Telephone company called asking to speak to Ma. She told them she was deceased and they said to have my brother call them as he is handling the estate and supposed to be paying the bills. She said it was moments later that the cabel and the telephone were cut off. That and the fact that I will pay my storage bill tonight should inspire us even more to hurry up and get moved out. Will miss the central heat and air and the water pressure as well as dr Johnny as a neighbor.

Best wait on the photo's of Mulberry. seems we got a notice from Code Inforcement to clean out the vines and bushes and trash around the place by the 27th or face a $250.00 a day fine. The Brats were incensed as it already looks better than it did a couple a Weeks ago. We have been concentrating on cleaning inside and moving. The garbage comes twice a week so we can only throw away so much at the time.

Take the pictures! so that when the city enforcers come back around near the 27th, you can show "an effort to comply" by comparison.
Know it it a lot of wor, indeed. Vines cut off near the ground will quickly wither and die and be much easier to pull away the next week or so.

The Brats are moving more little stuff today. They have a goal of having ma's cleaned out of our stuff this weekend. Will try to move the refrigerator tommorow. It will be another major hurdle out of the way. there is not a water line at Mulberry for the ice maker butt discovered a bag of ice works in the dispenser just fine.

Applied for telephone service for Mulberry today. Still gotta go pay the $170.00 for natural gas so we can have hot water and a stove that both work off gas. I also need to go get the fuel to see if the furnace works. Just scared to do it at night and with no phone incase it explodes!

It is worrisome to live without phone service in any case. Certainly, phones have gone from a luxury to an esential utility.

It is very admirable that the children are being so very very Help!ful in getting things transferred and set up and giving the re-newed home a ladies' touch.

LOVELY.

It helps my feeling and enthusiasm that they are both excited and motivated to make the move. The Youngest told me not to worry about all my jumk piled everywhere as we are just trying to get it all out of Ma's and can sort it out later.
