Soundstage of mind
Didn't even know it...but Ringo's "Soundstage" cd was reissued as a deluxe edition in April, with a dvd ep (4 songs)...but the actual dvd is coming out in September...hopefully with the back of my blonde head still included!

Re: Soundstage of mind
BUY IT!!!!! The dvd included in the deluxe package is not the Waukegan concert. Not that you'd know anything from the packaging...but wouldn't you watch it anyhow? There's lots of footage from recording "Choose Love" through all the promotional appearances, including Good Morning America and the California concert. Lots of backstage footage, which is much better than ordinary: Ringo on piano, TONS of Ringo on drums, Ringo drumming on "Bad Boy" and singing "Slow Down". As for the four songs featured:
1. "Choose Love" is actually the studio take synched to rehearsal footage.
2. "It Don't Come Easy" is from Waukegan, featuring the rather ornate Genesee Theatre and Margaret bobbing and bopping.
3. "I'm The Greatest" is a rehearsal take with dubbed in crowd sounds with rehearsal footage and some concert footage.
4. "Don't Pass Me By" is from the Cali concert.

Re: Soundstage of mind
Seems Mark Hudson is out of the loop, unaware of the deluxe edition or next month's dvd release. I'm not. Tee hee!
At least I found out that Ringo did in fact have his picture taken at the Jack Benny statue.

Re: Soundstage of mind
For the 2006 tour, Mark's dream was to finally come true, a full tour with Ringo...only it was an All Starr tour, and Mark wasn't considered an All Starr, just the bass player...although it would seem likely, he'd get a solo spotlight. Tour materials had been printed up featuring Mark's name and picture. Then, Mark got an offer to be a judge on the "American Idol" clone "The One." Mark saw his chance to achieve the recognition in the US that he had in England as Weird Beard on "X Factor". So, he canceled out on the tour. And "The One" was canceled after two showings. That pretty much did it, although there was still work in progress including "Liverpool 8", which actually was mostly made up of outtakes from "RingoRama" and "Choose Love". At least Mark isn't hanging out with Jimmy Hoffa and Vini Poncia.

Re: Soundstage of mind
Buy the "Soundstage" dvd! Will say upfront that it runs less than an hour, so that it is the full tv show, but far from the full concert, and it has no bonuses. On the positive side...it is probably the most beautiful dvd ever. The Genessee Theatre is quite ornate, and apparently doesn't have the drawback of an overly polite indoor Milwaukee audience. In fact, the audience is even louder than the band..and the Genessee ain't that big. And for once, you can hear a few audience remarks, including those that prompted the strip tease. And it's so hi-def you can count the beads of sweat on Ringo's forehead. If I had a plasma tv, I could probably read the setlist by Ringo's drum kit. The only oddity is that as well lit as it is, the audience looks like a crowd of glowing golden avatars. (The most recent incarnation of Krishna for those keeping count.) Yet you can make out the audience in Brent Carpenter's footage on the bonus dvd. Anyhow, buy it, you lucky people.
