Earl Slick at Infest

Much credit to Earl Slick for:
1. having a name almost as groovy as Harry Oatmeal (as in the earl is a quart low).
2. flying out to Infest immediately after his father's funeral pulling of the neat trick of being fashionably late and not missing a paying gig.
3. having his blood replaced with permacool.
4. putting up with Martin Lewis' rather homoerotic obsession with his clothes. (The pointy shoe contest was tolerable-Martin won with his winklepickers-followed by the the dirty show contest-again won by Martin Lewis, but only because Earl can see his own shoes. But the drooling over his trousers...a wee bit creepy.
5. Liverpool playing "Nobody Told Me".

Anyroad, I had a question I wanted to ask him to confirm my suspicion, so I stood in the signing line. The person before me had album covers to be signed, including Phantom, Rocker & Slick. He claimed that he still had the clothes that he wore on the cover. But not the shoes. "I wish I still had those shoes. Those were some kick ass shoes." So now I had another question. "Could you kick Martin Lewis' ass with them?"
"Yes. Yes, I could." (Yes, I got my annual Martin Lewis snipe in.) But what I wanted to know...who played the atomic explosion guitar bit on "Walking on Thin Ice"? (I suspect it was John.) The answer? "Honest to God, I don't remember. For a lot of reasons. I know I played some lead on it, and John played some lead on it, but I really don't remember who played that part. Hugh McCracken?" Well, I would find that hard to believe. So, I'll continue to believe it was John.
