I saw this twice so far and love it. For anyone that did't stay to see the real "end" of the movie you may be a bit sad. I belong to a site called Keep to the Code and it's all Pirate's movie fans and I have an explaination of how the movie ended for Wil's character.
If you notice Davey Jones was the captain of the Flying Ducthman for more than 10 years. His love Tia-the witch or Calypso as she becomes known in the 3rd movie didn't remain loyal to his love and wasn't there when his 10 years was up. He then was cursed to stay the captain until someone stabbed his heart and took his place. Wil on the other hand was coming back at sunset at the very end (he wasn't supposed to be on land at sunset if you caught that part of the curse) hence showing the price he had to pay to be saved was paid in full and he was free to be with Elizabeth and his son.
There is a link somewhere where the writters said this as well, but for some reason it's not working or was taken down to not allow others to see the true ending and to go see it for themselves in the theaters.
I really enjoyed this one more than the 2nd. It was hard to watch "Wil" being killed and not being able to be with Elizabeth for 10 years.

Oh and the final- final green flash was Wil's soul being returned from the dead. That's what the flash meant, souls going and coming from beyond.

Thank you so much for that info. My dad told us we had to stay and watch the final scene after all the credits (which we almost didn't because they took so long!!), because it would make the movie give so much more sense, but when we had seen it, I was like "What more sense? That didn't make sense at all!!" If you don't know it, I don't think you can follow that last scene and understand it as it should be...
But well, now it makes so much more sense, and I don't hate the ending, as I did before I read this (too unfair, if you ask me)...
Else, I loved it and I can see why people think it's the best of the three...
Favourite part: Sparrow before and during the crabs!!   Seriously, I would be the DVD even though that was the only scene included!! 
And I agree with you Deni, that wedding scene was amazing...

I guess the reason the final scene was put where it is was because they didn't want to cut the fight scenes at all and with the movie being as long as it was they decided to add it after the credits. I think it was very upsetting and puzzling to do it the way they did. I wouldn't have complained to sit for a few more minutes just to have that part of the film cleared up. So many people are upset thinking Will and Elizabeth will on be able to be together one day every 10 years. I hope they correct this in the dvd that's coming out in December!!!

As I've told Pambi, I didn't much care for the third installment of the film. In fact, I think it was far the worst of the three and I just didn't enjoy it as much as I did the others. I felt the script writing was bad and it just seemed....flat.
Having said that, I do think it was Orlando's best performance of the three, though I didn't see much of a difference in his acting chops compared to the other two films. I did like his more central role and the fact that he was more dominating, not to mention drop dead sexy! The man is sex on a stick people!!
I was one of those people who hadn't stayed until the end, but Pambi filled me in on what happened...it made me very sad that they showed this cos now it just affirms that this is Orlando's last POTC film. He's said as much in a recent interview he gave about the role, saying he's ready to move on to other more challenging things. I can't say that I blame him, and I think it'll be good for his career.
I find it sad that he won't be in any more POTC films but I do think he feels, as I do, that three is enough and any more is just taking it too far. I read that Superman, for example, is going to be stretched to 6 movies! I just hope they don't try to do that with POTC cos then that would ruin things for me...also, I heard that the only one signed for the 4th movie so far is Johnny Depp. Has anyone heard anything else about that?
