There will be another update later tonight ladies, and although I love having Orlando and Anne happy, their troubles aren't quite over just yet.

*evil laugh*

I'm having a hard time writing Jeff, just because he is there main problem, but I also want to make him likeable.

Anne's POV
A few weeks passed, and I walked through the house on a Thursday morning, cleaning up. The phone rang, and I grabbed it quickly before it woke Orlando.

"Hello?"

"Anne Allen?"

"Yes?"

"Just a moment." The receptionist said, putting my call through.

"Anne?" A deeper voice asked.

"Yes sir."

"Hi, this is Don Peters...from Columbia Records?"

I stood up straighter. It was the audition tape I'd sent in. "Yes. I remember." I smiled.

"I really enjoyed your songs, but unfortunantly, I don't make the final decision. My superiors have heard the tape, but they'd like to hear you in person."

"Okay, great, when?"

"This weekend?"

"Um...I'll have to get back to you on that. I'd have to see if I could find someone to watch my daughter."

"Okay, well give me a call back when you figure things out."

"Will do. Thank you Mr. Peters" I smiled, and hung up. I ran into the bedroom, bouncing down on the bed.

"Mmmmmm...go away" Orlando mumbled. I laughed. "Mr. Peters called."

"Peter called. Am I late again?" He said, jumping up. I laughed, and grabbed his arm, pulling him back down. "No, Mr. Peters..fromt he record company?"

"Oh right." He smiled. "And..."

"He wants me to come into their studio this weekend."

"Oh Anne, that's great!"

"I'm not getting my hopes up. It's just an audition. But...I need someone to watch Lizzy."

"I have scenes all weekend...maybe I can ask off."

"No, no, it's okay. I was going to leave her with my parents. They'd love to see her, I'm sure, and that way you wouldn't have to take off work. I just wanted to make sure it's okay."

"It's fine." He said with a smiled. "Where's the audition?"

"Nashville." I said, then saw the 'jeff' look flash over his face. "The last time I talked to mom, she said Jeff was in New York for a couple months, doing an internship."

"I didn't say anything about Jeff." He mumbled.

"I know, but you were thinking it" I said, kissing his cheek.

"So, when do you leave?"

"Tommorow morning I guess."

"Mmmmm, I'm going to miss you" He said, kissing my neck softly.

"Sure you are" I laughed. "You can finally have a weekend with your friends."

He laughed. "I'd trade them for you and Lizzy any day"

"Aw, well aren't you a sweetheart" I teased, kissing his nose.

"Always" He laughed. "I have to get ready for work."

I nodded and kissed him, getting back up, and going into the living room. I called Mr. Peters back, then my parents. Once evreything was set, I packed, and finished cleaning up the house.
The next morning, I said goodbye to Orlando before work, and Lizzy and I took a cab to the airport. I boarded the plane with her, and flew to Nashville. The flight was long, but we both slept through most of it, so it seemed shorter than it actually was.

Wow! Did we know about this tape before?

I think Orlando is going to have more competition than from just Jeff.

He seemed cool enough about Anne leaving with his daughter, but he has reservations about the proximiy to Jeff.

Alas, another fly in the ointment of truly happy ever after! emoticon

Orlando's POV
As I awoke the next morning, to a quiet house and sighed, sitting up in bed. Anne had only been gone a few hours, but already I missed her and Lizzy like crazy. I got out of bed and got ready for work, grabbing my keys, and heading out. It was going to be a short day, we were only filming one scene.

"Hey mate" Billy said, walking over, and sitting in the chair beside mine as they applied the wig.

"Morning Bill."

"A bunch of us are heading out to the pub tonight. Why don't you and Anne get a babysitter and come with?" He said, standing as they started to put on his feet.

"Anne's in Tennesse for the weekend with Lizzy, but I'll go. I dreaded going home to an empty house anyway" I laughed.

"Alright, well Christine is going to be our sober driver. We'll pick you up at six."

I nodded, and let my make-up artist finish, then headed out to set. Just as I was getting ready to step in front of the camera, my cell rang. I smiled, seeing Anne's name.

"Hello beautiful" I answered.

"I love you."

I laughed. "I love you too darling. You sound guilty. What did you do?"

"Me? Nothing....but something happenned that....well you're not going to be happy about."

"What is it Anne?" I said worried.

"Jeff's home."

I sighed, sinking down into one of the chairs. "I thought you said he was gone for a few months."

"He was. His uncle passed away yesterday, he's in town for the funeral."

"Oh...well do you have to see him?"

"I grew up playing at his Uncle's house Orlando..I can't exactly skip the funeral."

"I see."

"Oh don't do that" She scolded softly.

"Do what?"

"Be all 'I know exactly what's going on'. Nothing's going to happen Orlando, it's a funeral."

"I just don't trust him with you, that's all."

"But you trust me, right? I'm a big girl Orlando, I can handle myself. Plus, Jeff isn't going to act any diffrently than he did when you were here."

"Just.....please be around him as little as possible Anne."

"You've got nothing to worry about Orlando."

"If you say so...thanks for calling."

"Okay, I'll talk to you later."

"Bye." I hung up. I knew why Anne had called. She was being honest with me. But I still wanted nothing more than to get on a plane, fly out there, and bring her home. For all Jeff's...'friendliness' he was a bit too close to her, and no matter how much anyone reassured me...it would always bother me.

Anne's POV
After the phone call to Orlando, Lizzy and I laid down for a nap to recover from our jet lag. We would finish our nap, eat lunch with mom and dad, then I would head off to my audition. I curled up next to my daughter and dozed off into a peaceful sleep.

Jeff's POV
I walked over to Anne's parents house, holding a large glass bowl in my hand. In true Southern hospitality, Anne's mother had brought food over to the house as soon as she'd heard about Uncle Larry, and my mother had sent me back over with the bowl. I knocked on the door, and walked inside.

"Mrs. Allen?"

"Kitchen Jeff!" She yelled. I walked through the house into the kitchen, sitting the bowl on the counter. "My mother sent me over."

"Oh yes, thank you" She smiled. "How is she?"

"As well as can be expected I suppose" I said, leaning against the counter, secretly wondering if Anne was upstairs. My mother had told me she was in town, and the box of toys on the living room floor implied she was still here somewhere.

"Oh poor thing, I know she and Larry were close."

"Yes," I nodded. "They were." I sighed. "I guess I should be getting home."

"Oh, will you do me a favor before you go? Anne's napping and lunch is ready. Will you go wake her before you go. I'm sure she'd love to see ya."

"I'm not sure if that's a very good idea Mrs. Allen."

"She's alone Jeff. It's just her and Lizzy this time."

"It's still not a good idea."

"You two are friends right?"

I sighed, I knew there was no use arguing with Anne's mother. She always won. I nodded. "Okay, I'll be right back" I laughed, and rolled my eyes, walking towards the stairs.

"You haven't grown up a bit!" She yelled after me.

"And I don't intend to!" I laughed, running up the stairs to the room I knew all to well. As I opened the door, I saw Anne curled up with Lizzy and smiled. I'd always told Anne she was born a mother. I walked over, reaching down, and shaking her shoulders softly.

"Hmmm? Jeff! Hi!" She said, jumping up.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to startle you. Your mother sent me to wake you"

She laughed, leaning against the backboard of the bed. "Of course she did." She said, running her fingers through her brown locks. "Thanks."

"No problem." I smiled. "C'mon. You should get up before she comes up here herself"

She laughed, and sat up. "Yeah, you're right." She leaned over, picking Lizzy up from the bed. "Wake up baby" She said. The little girl stirred, but snuggled up to her mother's body without waking.

I laughed. "I certinly know where she gets her lazyness. The apple don't fall too far from the tree."

"Hey!" She said, throwing a pillow at me. I ducked and laughed.

"It's the truth isn't it?" I laughed, helping her up. She put Lizzy on her hip, who finally opened her eyes.

It seems innocent enough that Jeff has shown up in Tennessee when Anne is there, and Orlando is very far away. Old memories are bound to be brought up, and after that, maybe old feelings?

Lots of potential for drama.

I can't believe that I haven't commented on the story in forever!

Good job keeping Jeff likeable yet still a threat!

Okay, here's the deal. I know exactly where I want to go with this story, but I'm not sure how I want to work up to it, so, while I'm thinking, I'm taking a break from this story. I will come up with a response soon, I promise, but for now, I'm going to be working on my other story, The Secret! Check it out! =] =]

Anne's POV
The next day, as my audition came to an end, I walked out with Mr. Peters.

"Anne, I can't say this officially yet, but I saw the look on the CEO's face. I have a good feeling your in."

I grinned. "Oh thank you!" I squealed, hugging him.

He laughed. "You're welcome Anne. We'll let you know something for sure in a couple days, okay?" He said, walking me to my car.

"Thank you." I smiled, getting inside, and saying my goodbyes.

A few hours later, I sat in a chair at the funeral home, watching as Jeff's uncle's family and friends gathered around his coffin. Lizzy was laying asleep in my lap, as the funeral came to an end. I stood up, holding Lizzy, and waving to Jeff as I walked out the back. I knew I was flying back early in the morning, and I needed sleep. I put Lizzy into her carseat, and got in, trying to start the car, but after a few tries, I knew it wasn't going to.

"Having trouble?" I heard a voice say behind me. I turned around seeing..surprise surpise...Jeff.

I nodded. "It won't start."

"I can see that." He laughed. "Do you know what's wrong with it?"

I shook my head. "No idea. It was fine before." I laughed. "I'll call the mechanic."

"Anne, it's 11:00 on Saturday. There's no mechanic working. I'll give you a ride home."

"Oh no, I'd hate to-"

"We live right next to each other, really it's fine." He smiled.

"Thank you." I said with a thankful smile, buckling Lizzy and her carseat into his car, then getting in myself.

Jeff and I caught up on the way home, as he told me about his internship in New York. As he pulled into the driveway, and stopped, I got out, thanking him again, then taking Lizzy inside. Hitting the shower, and laying down, I pulled out my book I'd brought along, and started to read it. My phone rang, and I leaned over, grabbing it and answering it. I smiled, seeing Orlando's name.

"Hey baby!" I squealed.

"Hello love." He said, and I could almost seeing him smile. "How was the funeral?"

"Sad." I sighed. "Like most funerals."

"Yeah, you're right, stupid question."

I laughed. "No, it's okay. So what have you been up to?"

As Orlando started to tell me about my day, I heard a knock on my door. I got up, listening to Orlando as I opened it.

"Hey Anne, you left your scarf in the car." Jeff said, handing it to me.

"Jeff's there?" I heard Orlando ask, turning my attention back to the phone.

"Y-yeah, he just came over to give me my scarf." I said calmly.

"Why does he have your scarf?" Orlando asked, and I could hear the anger building in his voice. I waved for Jeff to leave, and he nodded, and walked off.

"I rode home with him from the funeral. My car broke down."

"How convienant."

"Are you saying I made it break down?" I said, raising my voice as well.

"I don't know what you're doing there anymore." He said, and before I could get an argument, I heard click and a dialtone.

"Oh very nice..." I growled. "Hang up...because that solves all our problems!" I said, rolling my eyes, and falling back on the bed.

[The Next Morning]
Surprisingly, I went to sleep, and didn't wake up again until early morning. I glanced at my watch, and knew I had just enough time to get ready, and get to the airport.

Good... I thought. I don't feel like talking to anyone anyway.

I packed my things, and said goodbye to my parents, loading myself and a hyper Lizzy into the cab, going to the airport.

Orlando's POV
[The previous night]
I hang up the phone, pushing it off the table, hearing the satisfying crash to the ground. She was with him . Of course she was. Did you really expect anything diffrent? She probably knew he was going to be there all along.
I sighed, getting ready to wait for the guys and Christine to pick me up. I had almost called to cancel, before I realized just how badly I needed the mass amount of alchohal I was looking forward to consuming tonight. I put on a smile, and waved as I got into the car. I looked around, seeing Billy, Dom, Viggo, Elijah, and Christine.

"Where's Sean."

"He decided to stay home. But I wanted to come anyway." Christine said, looking back at me.

"Oh, okay." I said, shrugging, not thinking anything of it.

As we arrived at the club, we walked inside, and ordered our first round of drinks. By hour three, I could barely stand, and a still sober Christine decided it was time to take us home. First was Elijah, then Billy, Viggo, and Dom. I was last. As she pulled into the driveway, I turned to thank her, when I felt her tug on my collar, and pull me close, kissing me softly. She held up her hand, stopping me from speaking.

"I know what you're about to say. Sean's your friend...and you're with Anne. Sean and I had a huge fight earlier. He hated the fact of me socializing with you guys. When the truth is...I don't socialize with anyone but you. No one else even see's me. and...I..I don't know. I know we're not exactly...friends, but-" I cut her off with a kiss of my own.

"Anne and I had a fight too."

"I-I thought she was in the states."

"She is. I called and she was with her ex."

"Wow...I'm sorry."

I just nodded.

"Are you too spliting up?"

"I think so. I...I just think she's better off with him." Druken me replied. Sober me ofcourse would have said the exact opposite. And sober me definatly wouldn't be looking at Christine the way I was right now. I felt her arm wrap around my neck, and she kissed me again.

"Christine I..."

"Hey..no one has to know okay?"

I nodded. "Okay..."

Anne's POV
[That morning]
The plane landed in New Zeland, and Lizzy and I took a cab back to the house. The time diffrence had confused her, and she had dozed off on the way home. I laid her down in her bed, and laid my bags down, getting a bottle of water from the fridge. I wanted to go crawl into bed with Orlando, but after the fight we'd had last night, I seriously thought he might kick me out. I sighed, knowing I had to resolve it somehow. I opened the bedroom door.

"Orla-" I stopped, seeing someone else move in the bed. The water bottle fell from my hand in shock, hitting the floor with a hard thump, which caused Orlando to wake. As he sat up, he looked almost happy to see me for a moment, then, angry, as if remembering our fight then....panic, as he realized he wasn't alone. I turned, and walked from the room, leaning against the kitchen counter.

Orlando's POV
As I woke up, seeing Anne's face, I smiled, happy to have her home. Then, I remembered her fight and the next thing to cross my mind was....Chrisitine. I prayed by some miracle that she'd left during the night, but the look on Anne's face, proved anything but. She turned, leaving the room.

"Anne!" I called, getting out of bed, and getting dressed.

"Orlando?" Christine said, sitting up, rubbing her eyes. I ignored her, running in after Anne.

"Anne, please!" I said, running over to her. She was staring at her hands. "Anne, please baby, look at me."

"Why?" She rasped.

"Because, I want to explain."

"No! Why? Why her? Why..this?" She said, the tears evident in her voice. The innocent act usually worked, but she wasn't without fault in this.

"Because I thought you were doing the same bloody thing with Jeff!"

"What?! Unlike you, I knew what I wanted! I wanted you! But you couldn't get out of your brain that I wanted Jeff! Yes, we were together, yes, I loved him! But when I met you, my love and want for him, and any other man ended! I only wanted you."

"Then why did you spend the weekend with him?"

"I didn't spend the weekend with him! He just brought me my scarf!"

I sighed, running my fingers through my hair.

"Okay, you're right...I should have listened to you...I should have believed you." I said, touching her arm. She jerked away immediatly.

"No, we're way past that now."

"Anne, we can work this."

"Why, because you only cheated because you thought I was cheating?"

"I...I..well.."

"I got the job Orlando. I got the deal. So what happens when I go to work for a week and you think I'm cheating again? It dosen't give you permission!"

"Please Anne...."

I saw tears in her eyes as she looked me square in the eye. "Can you look my in the eye and tell me that when iI leave to record, you won't cheat again. That you'll trust me enough?"

"I..Anne I..."

"I can't do this. I can't live like this Orlando. You have to trust me!"

"I do!"

Anne's POV

"Oh yes, because a married woman in our bed is the national symbol for trust right?!" I spat.

"Mommy?" I heard, and saw Lizzy walk out of her room, rubbing her eyes.

I walked over, picking her up. "I'm sorry baby. Did mommy and daddy wake you?"

She nodded, and nuzzled her head into my neck.

"I'm sorry Orlando." I whispered. "I don't think we can fix this."

Whatever happens next, Orlando is a fool for getting drunk and then letting his "other head" influence him. emoticon

Anne is so within her rights to leave him flat...but I know she loves him and that means after she cools off she might forgive him.

(In the meantime, Orlando: SUFFER!)
