New "studio" finally complete

My remodel project is taking a LOT longer then I had planned. I've been in the house for a year now and I figured that by now I'd be working on finishing touches...uh, my kitchen still has a concrete floor, there is a 4 foot deep trench through my back yard and I've yet to get a real garden planted!

BUT, this week I will be putting the finishing touches on one particular room - my studio! I can't wait to have a craft room again. When I'm "done" for the day and just want to relax, I don't have many options right now. I can read a book or watch tv - I just don't have anywhere to do anything in my construction zone. But that is all going to change soon. There are a few spots that need touch-up paint and then I can start moving in (everything is in boxes in the garage). By this weekend, I should have everything sorted out.

So, now I'll have a place for knitting, sewing, painting, making jewelry and anything else I can think of! It'll be so nice. And I just realized that my hall bathroom doesn't have a window - it's the perfect darkroom! I haven't done photography for a few years. It would be great to get back into that.

Hopefully soon I'll be posting about completed projects! Yeah!

That sounds wonderful! A place that's totally your own, that's great.

I'm so happy for you..and so jealous..lol.

I would LOVE to have a room that I can leave stuff out, and it not make the rest of my house look like a pig sty.
Since we rent, we can't add on, but, the landlord has given us permission to either put a storage shed up, that would act as MY room. Use it for ritual stuff, and/or a craft room, or, to tear down the falling down smoke house and rebuild it using all the wood that's just lying around the farm here (would be a LOT cheaper). DH and I were just talking yesterday about what sized room I'd need. If I could get an 8x10, I'd be eccstatic. The shed would be much larger...one end would house all the stuff the old smoke house has now (some of his supplies for work, a few garden tools, the plastic garbage can we use for dog food, etc.) There would be a decent sized 'porch' so if he got a deer, he'd have a covered area to dress it out. There would be electricity run to it so I could have a fan, or heater, depending on the season. My side would have windows. I'd even be OK with a dirt floor (of course, concrete or wood would be better!).

Til then, I'll just live vicariosly through you emoticon
Enjoy your space!! You've certainly earned it!!!!!!!

TX Madness - I so can understand. The last house I lived in when married, I had a 11 x 14 sewing/craft room. one 14ft wall was cabinets and bookshelves floor to ceiling.

Now I live in a mobile home, and it's 50% or more craft room since just me here.

Congratulations on getting your craft room ready for your true self.

Blessings on you and it.

I'm getting really excited! I didn't have anytime to move stuff in there yesterday since I was shoveling dirt in the yard for 3 hours (I need a hot bath soooo bad!). But it will be soon.

Saijen, I sure hope you get a space! I've moved around a lot in the past 5 years and I've always had a separate room for my crafts (mostly lived alone, so I didn't have anyone else to bother!), but for the last year, I've just been crammed into one room of my house while the rest of it is in disrepair. By the end of the year, we will have the master bedroom, the guest bedroom, my craft room and a little sitting area completed. Can't wait!

Huge BUMP!

Wow, it took over a year for my studio to really become a working place. It was finished by the end of 2007 and I did unpack everything into it. I just didn't hardly have a chance to do ANY work in there for an entire year. Then the last few months it's been used as storage while we did the kitchen. BUT, it's been put to good use lately!

I kinda wish I had taken pictures a year ago to compare to now. It is certainly well moved into now! I just love the space and it's full of all my good ol' junk! emoticon

Wooohoooo! That's wonderful!

I love having a space of my own. It really allows me to go on with projects and work at my own speed.

Glad you have your studio back! emoticon
