Simple Jewelry Pieces

Here are some pictures of the simpler jewelry pieces I've been working on. These are some quick pics, and the colors aren't quite right, but they'll give you an idea of what they look like...

For this one, I wanted to do a necklace based on the Mona Lisa. Unfortunately, Mona was tied up with a long term engagemet at the Louve. Luckily, her sister, Trixie, wasn't busy, so this is the Trixie Lisa Necklace.

Next, we start with a riddle: What do Neolithic Europeans, Celtic Revivalists, Tibetan Bubbhists, and the U.S. Department of Transportation all have in common? I'll give you to the count of five to answer...

One...

Two...

Three...

Four...

Five...

And the answer is - they all use some form of the Triskelion as an imprtant symbol emoticon . Essentially, the Triskelion represents any three qualities that work together - body, mind, soul, or strength, honesty, and kindness, or bacon, lettuce, and tomato. Your pick emoticon .

Here's my version. It's done in fire-colored brass:

Below are some earrings. They're all done in copper. The colors on the first one pictured are the most accurate.

I love them all. I think I like the second pair of earrings the best! Sometimes I wish I wore jewelry. But I am too forgetful!

And now I will have to make some BLT's because they are my fave and you mentioned them.....oooh bacon!

Thanks for sharing those, de Corbin!

The triskelion is most beautiful. Do you "punch" the copper?

I like the Triskelion too. The Department of Transportation? Really? ...sure enough, just looked at their website.

Interesting!

Re: Simple Jewelry Pieces

Thanks all!

They're all cut out by hand using a jeweler's saw, and the Trixie Lisa and Triskelion are hammered around a forming stake to give them some curves. The triskelion also has a hammered edge to it.

The copper earrings are cut from thin copper sheets (about 24 gage) then polished. after that, I bend some steel wire into shapes, lay it on an anvil, put the copper on top, and whack it with a hammer to get an impression of the wire on the copper. the copper is then washed with Liver of Sulphur which causes the copper to oxidise black. I polish off the surface so the coper shows through, and wax 'em, and there ya go!

I LOVE the Triskelion necklace. It's beautiful!

I also really like the first and last pairs of earrings!

You're gifted, Corbin! Just lovely items of jewelry.

If these are the simpler pieces, I can only imagine what the more elaborate pieces are like!
