New Fractal art pieces
I have started doing my fractal art again. Below are 3 of the pieces. This first one, you have to REALLY use your imagination on!
'Hen and Chick'
'Fern Coral'
(I have no idea if there is such a thing, but that's what this looks like to me.)
'Fantasy Wings'
Dragon Wings, perhaps??

Re: New Fractal art pieces
Thank you all!! I love making these. I never know what I'll end up with. Were y'all able to 'see' the hen and chick? My neice just couldn't see it no matter how I showed it to her..lol.
muladzh, these are created using a computer program (this particular program is Apophysis, and it's a free download). You choose a random design and a variation to make the design work in certain ways. You pull up a small box that has triangles in it, and you move and manipulate the triangles till you get a design that you like. You can change the colors in a multitude of ways using pre-created color palettes that you can also change within that one palette. I'm not sure I'm explaining this very well....anyway, the programs all use mathematical equations to create the designs. When you change the dimentions and/or location of a triangle, you change the equation. You don't have to be a math genius to do these (I'm certainly not..I hated math!)It's all about manipulation and movement with this program.
I have another program that was also a free download (it's no longer available) that all you have to do was click on buttons to change the way it looks. You can zoom in on certain parts and enlarge it and work from the enlarged part, or keep enlarging until you get something really off the wall.
That program is called IFTP (International Fractal Therapy Project). There are others that are free downloads as well, like Chaos. It's fairly easy to work with. I have some really pretty fractals from that program but I'm not sure where they are at the moment. I've not found the disc I loaded them on to. Anyway...it's rather theraputic and it helps to settle my nerves when I've just 'had enough'. Or, if I'm bored....I start doing my art. It helps.
I hope I haven't confused you too much.

Re: New Fractal art pieces
Thank you for explaining them - computer literacy is something I am very short of.

Re: New Fractal art pieces
muladzh, I am also very computer illiterate. These programs don't take a lot of computer knowledge to work. If you're interested in trying the program that I used to create these, go to www.apophysis.com. The download is free and it doesn't take forever to download.

Re: New Fractal art pieces
I don't know if any of the downloads for a Mac would work or not. We need to find you a way to do something like this if you'd like to. Not sure what that something would be though
