Re: Finally! Some completed jewelry!
I love the leaf-shaped earrings. The spiral one is very nice, too, but I'd be afraid it weighs quite a bit.
Of course, the bracelet... I want them all! *laughs*

Re: Finally! Some completed jewelry!
Thanks! The colors are a lot brighter than I expected them to be - it's really interesting because they come from the heating and cooling process of bending and folding the little pieces of metal I'm working with. I don't have to actually DO anything to get them, they just show up (that is, when Vulcan smiles on me ).
The Ram's Horn earrings look a lot heavier than they actually are. They're made of very thin copper, and hollow. The hammering, folding, and the arcs of the metal make them very sturdy, though. I'd bet that they're lighter than a lot of earrings people commonly wear. They are kind of big, though - a bit smaller than an American silver dollar - because I have to be able to get my hammer into some pretty tight spaces to make them. I'm going to try making some smaller pairs soon.
I've got some other nice bracelets coming up, as soon as my internet connection is willing to cooperate again, and some odd looking necklaces...
Saijen, I sure hope you do win the lottery. I could use a wealthy patron . Buy a ticket this week. I'll try some spellwork...

Re: Finally! Some completed jewelry!
I LOVE the Ram's Horns. Do they "swivel" on the earring part? It looks like they are backwards...or at least, I would want them to face the other way. Can you make those in silver? Perhaps I need to use the etsy commission feature...

They rock back and forth along the line of your neck. I set them up that way because I wanted them to show in the same axes as an actual ram's horns do. I could, actually, set them up the other way easily enough - easier, actually.
I haven't tried fold forming in silver yet... I've been mostly playing around with different shapes and hammering it different ways to see what I get. I'm going to try some in silver this summer. It shouldn't be a problem. In the book I'm using for instruction, the author says that blacksmiths use this technique in steel, making huge sculptures. You might want to mention it to your dad, TexasM - it's a really fun technique!
So here are some new pieces.
These first couple are a nice, clean, simple design based on ancient jewelry I've seen in museums. I call them Relic Bracelets:
And here are a couple of more elaborate bracelets. I call them The White Egg and The Black Egg:
I made up an elaborate fantasy story to go along with them. If you're interested, you can read it here:

I like making up lies about my work... actually, I guess the polite word would be "fiction"

Re: Finally! Some completed jewelry!
I actually looked at ram's horn pictures after I posted and saw that your earrings do go the right way. Don't know why they look backwards to me! Maybe just not seeing them on a person...
I know a guy that does something like fold forming in really big sculptures. The pieces look massive even though they are thin sheets. It's really neat.

I love the Eggs. I know I can just loose myself in moonstone, so it would be the white one for me.
Such lovely pieces! One day, I'll ask you to custom-make something for me.

Re: Finally! Some completed jewelry!
Corbin, we have been buying 10 lottery tickets a week for a while now, and if we're lucky, we may get $3 or $4 dollars now and then. I've even done some spell work, and I must be doing something wrong....so far not won anything worth tootin about.
Ok...you're just a big tease now! I LOVE the egg bracelets! I'm with Firle, I think I'd do the white one. I have a necklace that would go perfectly with. What stones did you use in those 2 pieces?
I've just got to have one of those pieces!!!! That's all there is to it. You know....we have a Celtic Ren Faire coming up. You need to send me some of your business cards if I am able to go, so I can hand them out for you.....you need to put the Etsy URL on them so people can look at your work. You never know..you may get some sales that way! OR....hang on a sec. I'll go get the flyer...they have a web site...maybe you can write to them.
Here ya go:
www.shakespeareandfriends.org
You may be able to gain some patrons from there. If you do, I get a commission though! (just teasin!!)
is there a local artist's gallery where you are? We have one here and they sell all kinds of things, including jewelry. You need to find out if there's one near-by. That would be a good outlet also. But, I bet you could do really well with the Ren Faires and such.
I wish you all kinds of luck selling your gorgeous pieces of art!! Just wish I had enough money to buy at least one of everything! LOL
