Most recent canning adventures

Well, let's see. So far, I have canned 4 pints of hot pepper sauce, 3 quarts and 2 pints of green tomatoes and this morning, I did 3 quarts and a pint of of dill pickles. The pickles is a recipe I've not yet tried, so I hope they come out as good as they smelled. Oh, I've also canned some sweet pickles earlier in the month. Here shortly I'm going to make an attempt at some good pickled okra. I may have to get some of my newly frozen okra out to make up what I need.

I've not started my tomato juice yet. If the tomatoes keep producing like they have been, I may need to get busy and at least get some made to keep already picked tomatoes from rotting. I love my garden, but it seems to be a never ending chore when it comes in LOL. But I sure don't compain in the winter time!!!!! emoticon

Re: Most recent canning adventures

When we were visiting in VA, we went to a librarian's party for the 4th. She seemed very 'proper' and conservative. She's a grandmother raising her grandkids (youngest is about to graduate high school). She mentioned that she grows all of her tomatoes (she has a HUGE garden) for making tomato juice.

My friend's mom said something like "I don't know what you do with all that tomato juice! The only thing I know to do with is to make Bloody Marys!"

The elderly librarian winked and said "That's the only thing I know to do with it too!"

 emoticon Too funny!!!

We love tomato juice here. I'll put some in the fridge, get it cold and it's GONE...doesn't take long for a pint jar to disappear.
