A very concerning health food issue - Agave Nectar / Syrup

Most people now are aware that the convenience sweetener favored by manufactures, High Fructose Corn Syrup, is in fact a deadly chemical soup, made for economy at the cost of harming the health of those who consume it. This is so accepted as fact, that many countries warn their residents of that danger, inciting reference to heart disease, diabetes, high BP, chronic gastric reactions, stroke, dementia and a few others.. The US is becoming very much more aware of it, with many voices decrying the stuff as dangerous.

Because of this fact, many food manufacturers are returning to the more costly sucrose (sugar) because of dwindling sales of the HFCS sweetened product.

The health of the public seemed to being protected from corporate greed and negligence, and the world wandered on in ignorance.

Then came Agave Nectar, or Agave Syrup, as a sweetener touted as Raw, Organic, Healthy, and Safe.. But the truth is anything but. . .

Reference from here - the article at the top of the list.

It is a .pdf file, with High Fructose Corn syrup included - the Agave Nectar /Syrup article starts on page six of the file. I tried to paste it here but it failed to format properly.

I for one, am very annoyed about this, being very conscious of my health and eating habits - for a couple of years, I have eaten this junk, being lied to be the Food Industry, the FDA, and the USDA, who all tell us the stuff is Raw, Organic, and Safe. Which, as is shown, is a lie.

If you care about not eating High Fructose Corn Syrup, which you really should care about, you certainly should also care about Agave Nectar/ Syrup, and don't consume anything containing either.

This is the article

Clicking this link will get it to either download to your computer - Firefox on Linux, or open in your browser, Firefox on Windows.

It is so annoying that we cannot trust the makers of our food, or the regulators of that food, or the certifiers of the food's quality and safety. I will look very carefully into anything with the USDA organic label on in future - it is worth NOTHING.

emoticon Eh, the Weston Price Foundation also thinks that all vegetarians are going to die because of lack of nutrients. I wonder what all those billions of Hindu Indians are doing still alive? I have found outright lies in their publications on numerous occasions. Doesn't mean that everything they publish is rubbish, just that I won't take their word for it and would like to see other evidence.

But that being said, this all goes back to anything that is highly processed is most likely not the best option for your body.

Hmmm...does honey count as highly processed? It sure isn't just flower nectar anymore...

The article was not issued by the Weston Price folk, just used by them for their subscribers - the authors of the article are well respected in academic circles.

Some honey is genuine, but a lot of it is rather fake.

Well, you'll sometimes see people who claim it's better for than refined sugar if you're diabetic. It might be a hair better because it's more complex than refined sugar, but not a whole lot better.

The body isn't set up to handle any sweet in massive quantities, but you'd never know that from the gunk people eat...

The easiest way to avoid those problems is to get to know your food as personally as possible. We don't eat corn syrup nor any fancy alternatives.
We know the people we buy our honey from, we know the people we buy our pure maple syrup from. I don't believe/trust anything that is sold commercially in stores.

(we do buy pure cane sugar for use here and there but it's not a regular part of our diets)
