Re: Kitchen Remodel

Okay, I'm sorry but I had to laugh at the picture in my head of you dancing like a ninny head and yelling off, while your hubby and dad scrambled in the dark for the flash light.

I bet a hot shower never felt so good.

Just remember, all the funny stories that you tell later will be made up with the oops moments. For some reason, the moments that go exactly as planned are for the most part forgotten and those that are turned on their heads become some of the best stories and memories down the road.

Re: Kitchen Remodel

Wow, I'm long overdue for an update! First Chad got sick (bad flu for over a week) and then I had the heart issue. That put us far, far behind schedule. So it wasn't finished for the wedding. But everyone stayed outside anyway so it didn't matter!

Two weeks before the wedding, we finally had all the demo finished. That took the longest since hubby hasn't done it before I didn't want to use in power tools when I was having flinching so much from chest pain. Slowly but surely, we got it done.

We hired a sheetrocker since I still wasn't recovered. He worked REALLY long hours because he knew we were in a rush. He stayed until 1:30 AM the first day to finish hanging it! Here's the place 1.5 weeks before:

My aunt, the architect and someone who knows about remodeling time schedules, came over the week before. She couldn't stop laughing! She didn't understand why we weren't in panic mode! She had us pose for a picture "in the chaos":

Finally the sheetrock was done...3 days before the wedding and we started to install cabinets!!!!

I'll have to post an "after" picture later. It actually looks quite livable right now believe it or not! Can't wait until it's really done though.

Wow, that's a lot of work. I'm glad it all worked out for the wedding, and you can now finish everything in your own time.

It looks like very thorough work, which is exactly what I would want in my own house.

Well done! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Great goin, Texas!! At least now that all is said and done with the wedding, you can slow down just a bit and not sweat it so much.
I know you'll enjoy the heck out of it when it is done, though emoticon
A good kitchen (and a good sized kitchen) sure makes canning a LOT easier!!!

Curious, the light in the kitchen is GREAT now! The window you don't see in any of the photos is like a bay window - it's huge and lets int a lot of light. We added to the two others. The place we very dark until those went in. I really love the light in there.

I still haven't gotten a shot of the place in the daytime! The lights wash it out badly at night with my no-flash camera. I;ll get more pictures soon!
