Spring 09 weightloss
Well, another bunch of months have gone by and I've not paid any attention to my diet or exercise (I do kind of have an excuse with the wedding and all!). I'm ready (again) to make a change toward a healthier lifestyle. With the start of spring, I'm naturally outside being more active anyway so this is the perfect time to get my diet in check as well. Remodeling the kitchen has meant no stove for a few weeks...and lots of eating out. I feel like my blood must be at least 15% grease right now. Ugh.
And hubby would like to get healthier too. He's gain some weight over the past year - not much, but his pants are starting to get tight and I told him a new wardrobe for him was not in the budget so he'd better shape up!
I was going to weigh myself this morning, but my neighbor had poker night last night and my weight is always funky after drinking. Sometimes it's really low because I'm dehydrated and I "gain" 4 or 5 pounds the next day. And sometimes it's really high (not sure why) and I "lose" 4 or 5 pounds the next day. So I figure I won't give myself that headache of starting off with a weird number and I will weigh in for a starting weight later...maybe on Mondays. I'm going to keep track weekly. I'm not in any hurry to see the weight fly off, but I need to keep track to keep myself motivated. Even if I lose just a pound a week, I will meet my goal by the end of the year!

Re: Spring 09 weightloss
Sounds like a great plan! I'm ready to lose some myself, and I hope that adding an Omega3 supplement will help. I believe it helps the liver "unstore" body fat and burn it. We shall see.
I should resume my weekly weighing in, so thanks for the reminder!

Re: Spring 09 weightloss
I'm definitely on board. I am now the heaviest I've ever been which is saying something
At least I finally quit smoking last Fall, unfortunately I switched that addiction to sweets and watched my weight skyrocket
Our newest member of the family is due in 15 weeks. My goal is to lose 30lbs by then (July 20th). I will do this by seriously cutting down the sweets, portion control (already eat pretty healthy, just way to much of it), and getting more exercise.
My current weight is 264.5 lbs. That was hard to type that.

Re: Spring 09 weightloss
Welcome on board PC! I'm inching back up to my heaviest so I know that feeling. Ugh.
Sounds like a good plan for the weight loss - 2 pounds a week is a good clip but certainly doable as long as you stick to the program! I don't have much of a sweet tooth so I'm just working on portion control and exercise.
Well...sooo...I weighed in this morning. I thought I had gained a little but figured that I was right around 195. I knew my jeans were tighter than before...perhaps I've stretched them out a bit! Ok, enough stalling. I'm 199.9 lbs. I REFUSE to go back over 200!!! My highest weight ever was 207 about 3 or 4 years ago. I quickly dropped down to 190 and have fluctuated within 5 pounds of that since.
I'm back on track to walking to work every day and the poor pup hasn't had a good long walk in a long time so I'm adding that back into the schedule as well. Hubby and I plan to go hiking on Sundays as well. The snack room at work is OFF LIMITS! If I forget my lunch, I usually just grab something in there...which includes potato chips, candy bars, sodas and all sorts of junk food. I've supplied the lab fridge with plenty of healthy snacks to get me through any forgotten lunch days.
Ok, I'm ready for the scale to move now!!!

Re: Spring 09 weightloss
Go, TM!
I braved the scales this morning.
I'm a bit below my heaviest, and the same weight as 10 days ago: 77.5 kg. I was hoping to lose a kilo a month, but it's not happening. On the other hand, I had plenty of lovely, huge dinners last week, so I'm glad I haven't gained anything.
This week, I'm off work, so my daily walks are not happening. Might show in the weight. On the other hand, I started an Omega3 supplement in addition to the general one I'm taking, and I already feel a difference in strength (and different cravings).
Funny enough, last time I went to get my hair cut, the hairdresser told me that I have good strong hair, but that a portion at the ends seemed sickly and weak. I told her I've been on a supplement for about six months; and she said it shows. I'm taking one that's made from organically grown plants, so I'm actually eating dried and pressed fruit and veggies. So much easier for the body to process than pure lab chemicals.

Re: Spring 09 weightloss
I am actually at a lower weight than I have been in a very long time...but it's due to being so sick so much of the time (I'll take it, regardless!!).
At my doc's the other day, I was at 206. When I moved to TN in 1998, I was right at about 270.
Even being diabetic, I still tend to eat some sweets, but the doc said that right now, it won't matter too awfully much as long as I keep a good tight lid on it, since I'm not eating as much as usual and my diabetes is very well controlled right now. I have been eating much smaller portions at mealtime as well. Not something I intentionally started to do..it just happened. Again...I'm not complaining!!! lol
I would love to get below 200 by the end of summer. I've not been under 200 pounds in probably 20 years or longer..and I've not been where I am right now in longer than that.
I remember that before I got pregnant with my youngest daughter, and I was in the volunteer fire department, I weighed 188 pounds....that was in 1982-84. After giving birth to her, my weight just lunged after that 200 pound mark and kept on going, despite all that I did. Of course, having a pretty sedate job (sitting on my can behind a desk all day) didn't help matters any when I finally got a steady job.
I am still with y'all on this. I am working toward getting to at least 195 by summer's end. Preferable lower...but I won't quibble if I can at least make it to there. Then, I can set another 5 pounds or so to lose by the end of Fall....and so on and so forth. I think if I keep it small, the goals will be a lot more attainable and less frightening.
HERES TO ALL OF US WHO NEED TO SHED OUR WINTER COATS!!!!!

Well, I didn't get a weigh in this morning since I was at the farm. I'll check tomorrow!

Re: Spring 09 weightloss
I'm back up at 78.1 kg. *sigh*
Too much good and fried food during my vacation. Somehow, I can't bring myself to just order a salad when we eat out.

Re: Spring 09 weightloss
Meant to post earlier this week...
April 6th: 199.9
April 14th: 199.7
Difference: ugh. -0.2
I guess it's better than gaining! I know this week is already shot but hopefully over the weekend I can I catch up at least not gain any!
