Re: Summer 09 Weightloss
The sight of myself in the mirror offends my sensibilities every day!
How about we have a race to see who can gain the most weight instead? I'm sure I can win that one!

Re: Summer 09 Weightloss
LOL!!
Too bad my wife is already fretting about my health, this could of been a fun challenge
Me, I look at a cookie and gain weight. I don't even have to eat it! Actually, I think I just gained a couple ounces just thinking about looking at a cookie!
We are really hoping our kids take after my wife's maternal family. They are all tall & skinny despite having voracious appetites.

Re: Summer 09 Weightloss
I can relate. Seems I look at food, and gain weight, or one little misstep and I pay right away.
I don't even want to think about a weight GAINING contest -- LOL. Too scary
Currently at 140. Five to 10 pounds to go.
An aside -- went to a dietician recently -- something I've wanted to do for a long time. The difficulty in taking off weight could have to do with thyroid -- my mom is hypothyroid and my thyroid numbers are creeping up there. But the dietician said to add back in red meat. So I tried, and my body really reacted! (I didn't think I added alot, but...) Got all stopped up (which I hate), had major charly horses in my calves all night long (which NEVER happens), and got a major histamine reaction in my hands (which I haven't had for months).
I went off the meat again -- still eating eggs and cottage cheese for animal protein. I already feel better.
This journey is really blowing up alot of my myths about myself. Which is probably good! I always thought I was wired to be a meat eater. hmmmm...
Good luck to us all. We can do it.

Re: Summer 09 Weightloss
Interesting experience Cat! I've actually never had a bad reaction to meat. I've rarely eaten it any any quantities, but I have had a whole meal of a chicken dish and a beef dish that I can think of off the top of my head (at friends/relatives houses that forget I'm vegetarian and serve meat-only dishes! I try to be polite and eat it if I don' think it's horrible).
Today is bad...forget my breakfast AND lunch. I'm eating peanut butter crackers from then snack room. The closest thing to real food in there! And tonight is a dinner at a pizza place. Hopefully I won't eat way too much like usual!

Re: Summer 09 Weightloss
I've not all that great today myself. 2 donuts and a cup of coffee for breakfast, a really nice salad for lunch and a milkshake at around 5pm. Right now, I'm munching on some Lance crackers and a glass of water! Not my best day, to be sure!

Re: Summer 09 Weightloss
At one of my doctor's offices, I weighed 3 pounds more than I did at another doc's office a couple of weeks ago. I know there will be some flucuations, but it still aggrivates me.
I'm still working on my goal to be under 200 by the end of Summer (when I go camping in Alabama, Sept 14th-19th)

Re: Summer 09 Weightloss
We are back on the Caveman diet.. I first tried it in 1976, and lived fit and healthy for over 20 years. I have no clue why after so long, I abandoned it, but when I did, the weight came back on with a vengeance, so no, Officially, we are back on The Stone Age Diet.
Interestingly, all the very fit actors and actresses in Hollywood movies are on a version of TSAD - this is why they look so good. It should only take a year or so for me to get back the body I lost.. The Frog LOVES the way she looks on it - not being heavy to start with, she has lost the 'agri' puffiness, and looks like a million dollars... I will post on a different thread about the diet, how it works out, and stuff I remember from years ago.
